Austin has a music scene that I don't believe Gainesville could equate to. I would generally say that G-ville is not a tourist town.
Who's pissing? Like I said, we love tourists, and if a tourist wanders into one of our bars, we welcome them with open arms. What do you think this is, Florida?
Rodriguez has decided to can the entire Mich staff, and the Mich Scout guys see that as a problem with retaining their recruits. They feel that with Scott Loeffler gone that Mallet will probably go as well and that 5* running back Sam McGuffie of Houston is at risk since he was very close to the UM RB coach and that is what tipped it in the Michigan favor. The Mich Scout guy said it's ironic that Carr announced his retirement at the time he did to help with recruiting. Now it seems that they will lose recruits and that Rodriguez will be working a different group of recruits than what the current staff has been working.
to be fair <t>why would Carr help in recruiting?<br/> <br/> I mean that seriously. Why load the cupboard up with beef stew and pastrami when a vegan family could well move in next week?</t>
An coincidentally interesting variation of Bill Parcells' now-famous comment which goes something like, If you want me to cook the dinner, then let me buy the groceries. Makes me hungry.
It wasn't that Carr was going to help in recruiting...the thought is that by resigning early so they can get a new coach in place that the transition would not hurt recruiting. He also, supposedly, had contracts with assistants through next year and again supposedly the thought was that the new guy would maintain most if not all of his old staff which again would help hold on to the class that they have and provide a continuity in recruiting. Isn't going to work that way. Sid ....good catch on the Parcells saying...I'd forgotten that!! Of course some coaches it turns out aren't very good shopping for groceries...just cooking what the shopper brings home. I think Mike Holmgren is a good example of that, and ever since Shanahan got complete control at Denver they haven't been as good.
Terry, it was fresh in my mind. I heard it yesterday in connection with the story on Parcells going to Miami.
that's funny <r>and here I made that up off the top of my head.<br/> <br/> Just goes to show you that someone, somewhere has probably already done it.. the key to success is to find a better way to do it and make it your own. (something someone else probably said but the advice is still sound) <E></E></r>
