BT, Thanks! Everyone year some damn good fiction is produced by Irish Press. In past years, the best seller was The Striped Plantation: No Negro Football Player Has Graduated From Michigan , or Fitz Crisler Was a Secret Nazi or Fielding Yost Raped My Catholic Mother During a Klan Riot . I guess this year, I have a wide variety of reading from [i ]Harvard, Yale, Princeton or Notre Dame-Which One is the Best Academic School in America[/i]? or Sports Management: The Inside Story Behind Michigan's Sordid Football Program.
TOK, No doubt the Ivy's and the other first-rate private schools in the country are extraordinary academic institutions. However, there is alot to be said for the depth and breadth of degree programs offered at the larger institutions that, in many instances, are simply unavailable at the smaller schools. There are a great many extremely bright, motivated and ambitious kids attending this country's public universities not because they didn't have private school options but because they deemed the private school options an inferior alternative for their situation. I had two options.....1) go to Ohio State, 2) pay for it myself. Not a difficult decision for me!

Is Harbaugh the subject now? I thought is about a coaching search? Or the coaching acumen of Rodriguez? Or was is that we supposedly had the easiest admission standards in the B10? Or supposedly invented programs/departments to funnel football players through? Has it shifted to whether a BGS is a fraudulent degree or not? I'll let this thread, which has morphed into NDNation howling at the really evil Michigan moon, go on without my involvemnt. You guys were a lot more enjoyable to deal with when you won a few games in one season.
How about the new coach's wife? I give you Rita Rodriguez... Ann Arbor does have tanning and nail salons, si? Better tell the Krogers to stock up on Aqua Net.
I swear I have the utmost respect for Michigan. They are our bitter rivals no doubt and I enjoy tweaking them when I get the chance. No doubt they have had the best of us since Holtz left, sure we've won some games against them, but overall the UM program has been better on the field than we have. But I also swear that I heard this from somebody, I just can't remember who it was. Back in the 60's before Bo that UM academically was a tough place for a football player which was why MSU was kicking their butts. When Bo was hired he insisted that something be done so that he could recruit out of a bigger pool of athletes and keep them eligible. Supposedly up till then Mich would have nothing to do with having a jock major. But they had also tired of losing. So they created one. But I can't prove it, unless the guy who told it to me magically reappears in my memory. Terry
Bobda, We're just goofin' on you. You got a good coach there; I'm sure he'll give us hell. Wait a minute, everybody gves us hell..... Besides, my youngest son is a Wolverine fan. I'm cool with that; in fact, I'm going to let him see his mother again. On holidays. On a limited basis.
LOL! It's a good thing I wasn't drinking coffee when I read this or my monitor would be ruined. Bobda, you are one clever guy (Note the obsequious tone, trying to make up for the sins of my brothers).
I spent too much time trying to find an article in the Detroit papers a few years ago (at our age that could be anything from 6 mos to 12 yrs.) It specifically mentioned that they had certain programs that had been set up for the football players. I didn't make it up. This reminds me of the time I mentioned a Miami asst. coach busted for selling steroids and Gonzo was all over me for making it up. I read it in the local paper and I understood it, after all I'm not a General Studies major.
dammit Rick <r>I have stayed out of this because a) the search is over and b) as Bobda described, it sorta morphed into something that i'm not interested in pursuing.... <br/> <br/> but dammit Rick, you are making this really, really difficult.<br/> <br/> damn you... these folks don't have that Pac10 thick skin <E></E></r>
Golly, gee, whiz...it looks like somebody was having a food fight in here. Was it something I said? I'm just glad that Michigan finally got a swell coach. Now they can be just like Arizona State...
I wasn't poking fun at Rita. Really. From what I understand, the Rodriguezes are good folks. In fact, here's a picture of their dog.
Well, Corey, maybe in those parts of this county where quaffing strawberry flavored beer is deemed acceptable male behavior, sneering at big-haired women is deemed high comedy. But, for those of us who live in the shadow of the Miller Brewing Company, a well buffed, dyed blonde, big-haired woman wearing a skin tight, size six dress with embroidery and sparkles, while posing for a university photo shoot with the hubby and kids, is an object of veneration. Plus, she uses less hair spray than Lute.
Good point Jo Co. When R left Arkansas, they got put on probation. Then Minnesota. Then, some other Midwestern school. Then South Carolina. Or so I read.
Hey...she is no Shelly Meyer but I thought we was kinda hot looking when she stood up during the presser.....but then again maybe my outlook is a little...."Quagmirish"
Shelley's cute, alright, and she knows how to dress for an audience. Nothing says "Gainesville" quite like a scissor-cut v-neck t-shirt and a jean skirt. - Mr. Black
