We're leaving to go back to Florida tomorrow so if no one gets these last two answers I'll post them in the morning. Gator Bill
OK Here's what I found Most points Lyola Marymount (149) vs. defenseless Michigan. Fewest points 20 by NC in 1941. And to satisfy my curiosity UTEP won when there were only 22 teams in the tourney. They didn't have seeding back then. 10 teams had byes and the other 12, UTEP included had to play a preliminary round.
Nice work Gip, the final score of the Loyola Marymount beat Michigan 149-115 in 1990. I forgot the name of that coach but he played to run up and down the court and outscore the other guy without much defense. He then went to the pros where he was not very successful if I remember right. And the final score of that game with North Carolina was Pitt 29 - North Carolina 20. There was no shot clock at that time. Hey Gip, where did you find that information, I had a March Madness trivia quiz in our college newspaper. Well this will likely be my last post from North Carolina, we will leave here this morning as soon as we finish packing the car and I can drag the wife back to our 30 foot RV. Gator Bill
Bill There was a list of NCAA records on the CBS sports web site. I got the UTEP info from a few sources.
