That Purdue was tough as nails was something I expected....had a feeling on. Congrats to them for putting out such effort. I think we may have a slightly easier time with Butler and then a war in the regional final and beyond. UF does not seem to be dominating teams as last year in the NCAAs and that bodes for tough, close games down the stretch. I do get the feeling that if UF can squeeze it's way back to Atlanta where they buzzsawed thru the SEC that special things could be in store for this team. Got to get there first....
Why don't we break down the remaining number of teams by percentage of those that started. SEC: 60% 3 of 5 B12: 50% 2 of 4 PAC: 50% 3 of 6 BEast: 40% 2 of 5 B10: 17% 1 of 6 ACC: 14% 1 of 7 Looks like the committee got a little carried away with a few conferences...
Listen to the two Big 12 fans crowing. I don't care about the ACC, but how about this set of facts? Illinois, the B10 "bubble" team and a 12 seed, came much closer (2 points) to beating VA, a 5 seed, that either Texas Tech (10 seed) vs. BC (7 seed - 9 point margin) or Stanford (11 seed) vs. Louisville (6 seed - 20 point margin). Soooo.......How about scratching one team each from the Big 12 and Pac10?
I wasn't saying that the B12 deserved another team in... However you want to slice it, it sure looks like the Big 10, and ACC could have done with one less. Please tell me you aren't comparing margins of LOSS?? "My loss was better than yours!" For the record, I don't think ANYONE who thought it before would still say Stanford belonged in the field of 64...
We all know Notre Dame had the best loss of all. They had to come back from 20 points down and briefly take the lead before they lost. Beat that.
Great loss Sid. Although the Irish almost fell to the win they somehow persevered and found a way to get the L.
You got me cold Sid... my guys haven't lost yet. And I hope they manage to avoid it for a few more games!
Yeah, and thank God they landed him and not ND. Here is a taste of the little egomaniac. He sounds ready for the NBA right now: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/21/s...html?_r=2&pagewanted=1&ref=sports&oref=slogin
Bob, That quote button has never wourked here on The Skybox. I always highlight what I want to quote, copy it, paste it into the reply and use the quote function within the reply.
A player who is so corrupt/arrogant that even USC is astonished? I may have to buy a ticket to see this. Even by Hollywood standards; this is special....
I saw somewhere an analysis of each conference and how they have done in terms of seeding. Some conferences are +1 or -1, a couple are -2, etc. I wish I had it to post, but the B10 is even, so have done as the tourney committee would have predicted due to seeding. Not posting much because I'm in Pinehurst on a golf outing. Kind of a warmup before my Myrtle Beach trip next month...life is tough. We will be eating pizza and hoping the Buckeyes can pull it off against a great Tennessee team tonight. Good luck Tom and Cindy...hope we are both proud of how our teams played tonight regardless of the outcome.
Stu, Geezus H.....Pinehurst this week, Myrtle Beach next.... Hell, when is Augusta or are you not gonna tell us????? Life must be tough! While in Myrtle or on your way to or fro, I'm right up the road. Give me a shout if you need a fourth or stop by for 18 at my place....it's just a hop-skip and a jump up the coast!
Stu wrote: Thanks Stu. I hope for a well officiated, back and forth, win at the buzzer kind of game. Maybe one like we had in the regular season just with an opposite winner. You got us in the regular season by 1 point. I would be so ecstatic with a 1 point win tonight that I wouldn't be able to go in to work! You called Tennessee a "Great Team" and we are a #5 seed in the same division that OSU is a #1 seed. That would make OSU an adequate opponent in my opinion!     Seriously, good luck to OSU tonight even though they don’t need it.
I have never seen Tennessee score 21 out of their first 25 points from 3 point range. Hope the three's don't cool off!
Tom, your boys are en fuego....if they don't cool off, they're gonna run the Buckeyes out of the gym! They can't keep this up.....can they?
