    Always...

<t>Find it interesting to listen to remarks on Duke when they lose. In fact considering the envy of that great program they are only news when they lose.<br/>
K's records there are off the chart and speak volumns.<br/>
They run a model program and graduate their kids like ND does so when you kick it and take names like they do year after year the Yankee/Dallas Cowboys syndrome kicks in. The naysayers worm out from under their rocks and get a life although a short one then its see ya later.<br/>
This years Blue Devil team is the youngest team in K's history and played the 4th toughest schedule in the country in college basketballs finest conference. Unlike UConn they made it to the tourney and lost a tough close game last night. I won't say much about VCU but one of my best friends that lives in Richmond Virginia ( and a Virginia) fan has filled me in on the makeup of that bunch. LOL !!<br/>
On Mc Roberts to me he is no center and is a good player not a great one that needs to be at Duke all four years. He is still immature and the Duke fans are aware of this. I don't dislike the kid but he is no Sheldon Williams or any one of a long great list of big guys that have played in that program. He could be but will he stay or go play with the rest of the thugs in the NBA.<br/>
If you are a Duke fan and I am yes you are disappointed at the year but then should you be considering the league they play in and their youth?<br/>
They have the Acc's top recruiting class signed with Kyle Singler leading the pack and on the way plus they are said to be leading for the top big man from Louisiana and top forward from Cali in the 08 class. Suffice to say enjoy the "down" year as it will be shortlived IMO.<br/>
    <br/>
Looking forward to more hoops mania this weekend.<br/>
    <br/>
My pick for it all is the hated Tar Heels.</t>

That's interesting, Terry. I thought I was alone. I'm glad to know my feelings are shared by other Indiana people.

Larry, like I said above, I like coach K. I also have been a Duke fan over the years for all the positive reasons you cite. When McRoberts is gone, I'll go back to the way it was.

I'm not surprised. That is one of the worst fan sites I've ever seen. Those guys hate everyone don't they? I got banned from there a long time ago but I rarely saw anything positive written about anyone there that isn't Irish. Making mattters even worse, their software was obsolete ten years ago and it's being run by the largest group of techno-morons on the planet.

LOL! Bob, I agree with all your points except for the software issue. I'm techno-deficient and not qualified to comment on that. I once participated a few years ago but grew tired of the dynamic.......a few strong, dominating personalities with a generally negative collective attitude and lots of sheep. No offense, Terry. I'm sure there also are a lot of smart , good-looking guys like you on NDNAtion who contribute much to the conversation. Plus, it occasionally is a good source of information.

I know that we were supposed to beat them but 121-86??? Looks like Tennessee had a great start to the tourney. Hope they didn't use up scores meant for the next game!

    Tom...

<t>You have to feel good about that performance. ND should be embarrassed today. I never get to excited about Brey's teams.</t>

Didn't get to see that game, but it was a big disappointment to lose to Winthrop. Even though a lot of the talking heads pointed to this game and the VCU/Duke games as potential upsets.

From what I can tell the Irish just came out and had their worst shooting performance in years. Not a good time to do that. Well the year itself overall was better than I expected, and while we do lose a couple of key players in Falls and Carter, Harangoody and Jackson will be sophs and McAlarney will be back from suspension. Zach Hillesland will be back and hopefully some of the new recruits will be pretty good!

Tough, tough loss. I agree, Terry. Overall, it was a good year.

Doggone Illini. Ruined a Big 10 sweep in the first round. Outscored 12-0 at the end.

Tennessee was awesome today. They way they played today and the way they played when they played the Gators and they are really tough.

Then I watched them in the SEC playoffs and I'm still trying to understand how a team can set a record for steals in a game and still lose to LSU.

But when they are playing at their best they can beat anybody.

I'm not sure if I'm going to get to see the Gators here in North Carolina. Kentucky is playing and that might be a better market here. I hope all the Floridians here in North Carolina make the difference and they carry our game. I'll know soon.

71 points in the second half for Fla.....school record.

Tenn and UF scored 233 points between them.

Tenn tied the record for most points scored in a first round game.

That's also got to be a two school record for any conference in the NCAA tournament in any round.

I like the chances of at least 3 SEC teams in the Sweet 16.

    Other tidbits:

The 71 points were more than 39 of the 65 tournament teams scored in their entire first-round games.

Florida also ended with a 62-19 rebounding advantage - an NCAA tournament record

Bill, I found that comment interesting in the context of Floridians going north. It's not something we midwesterners hear much about.

Sid, peope from further north retire to Florida, Floridians retire to North Carolina. This place is loaded with people from Florida. As a matter of fact the company I retired from in my first career in 1993, Florida Power and Light, has so many retirees here in Western North Carolina that there are at least three retiree groups that have monthly meetings.

I go to the one in Clayton Georgia, only 20 miles away, when we are here and there are as many as 30 people attending.

The people here in North Carolina refer to a lot of the retirees from Florida as halfbacks, they moved from the north to Florida, then go halfway back to North Carolina.

If any of you ever get near Franklin, which is about an hour south of Asheville and the Smokey Mountain National Park, North Carolina side, look us up.

    Thanks Rick,

The Boilers have made me proud this year...Painter has returned the tough, hustling play that Keady's teams were once famous for.

I hope that we can make a good showing tomorrow, but I suspect that we will go down and it probably won't be close...having said that I am really proud of this team.
