To Me... <t>This has been a great day for the following:<br/> <br/> My wife and I found out our first grandchild will be a boy.<br/> <br/> My loan on my townhouse was approved.<br/> <br/> Texas Tech/Knight took an ACC beating today.</t>
I'll bet Scott got a little tight there when Penn made that big run on the Ag's and took the lead. BTW: Congrats on the baby, the new mortgage, and damn that Bobby Knight I had him to upset the Fleagles. Terry
The Aggies are NOT playing well right now. In fact we haven't for about 3 weeks. Not sure what's wrong, but it's not a good time with red-hot Louisville coming up in their own backyard. The defense is still there in spurts, but no where near as consistent as it was just a month ago. There is a visible difference when they ratchet it up, but it falls back after a few possessions... Hell, we can't even hit free throws any more. :x
Scott, Louisville is red hot. They are my darkhorse to go all the way. Ever since they got Derek Caracter into the rotation, they have been unstoppable. His post game is one of the best in college and he only plays 15-20 minutes a game. He has to be double teamed. He's too strong for single defenders and has NBA moves, strength and quickness. The Buckeye's Oden said he was the toughest guy he had to defend. The Aggies will have to break the relentless Pitino press to win and if they can break it and force UL to slow down, they'll have to contend with a formidable front court. The Aggies did NOT catch a break with this matchup. UL is a team that got better as the season progressed and finished impressively.
Buckeyes jump out to an early lead over Central Connecticut and never look back. I have a feeling that maybe we should have saved some of those three pointers we hit tonight. Don
Down goes Dooooooooooooooooooooook!!! Wow what a finish, that VCU guard had ice water in his veins when he drained the jumper from the foul line to end it for Dook. Terry
So glad Duke lost, can't stand them. Tired of seeing them getting all the calls...Too much pressure from VCU, may do the same to the Pitt winner
Once again this bracket contest is going to show my absolute lack of knowledge concerning NCAA Basketball. Of course my knowledge of Pro Basketball is even worse.
The Bruins are back, now that they have to be serious again. They spent most of the season with the #1 RPI rating and they're a very good team, especially on defense. During the regular season, they were 11-1 against teams in the Top 50 RPI. Today they smothered Weber State, allowing only 19 points at halftime and holding them to a season low of 42. After the game, HC Ben Howland was asked by CBS if he felt bad beating his alma mater. He just smiled broadly and said, "You-See-El-AAAAY!" Next up for the Bruins is Indiana. If you haven't seen the Bruins before, watch two players: Arron Afflalo and Darren Collison. They're the straws that stir the drink. Afflalo is one of the 2 or 3 best players in the country. As Pac10 Player of the Year, he's actually better on defense than he is on offense and they usually use him to guard the opponent's best player. Collison, only a sophomore, is the greatest player ever to come out of my area here, the Inland Valley. He's a better athlete than Jordan Farmar was last year and Farmar is in the NBA. Counting both offense and defense, he may be the best point guard in the country. UCLA's biggest weakness is freethrow shooting. Their center, Mata, is shooting a miserable 27% from the line the last time that I looked. They are also just slightly above average from three-pointland, relying heavily on Afflalo and Josh Shipp to shoot from out there. They definitely prefer to drive the lane and stuff the ball down deep on offense. They get a LOT of points on steals and transitions from their trapping defense. On both offense and defense, the Bruins are very physical and love to run the court...
Actually I was thinking of Tom's love of Pat Summit and the Lady Vols, thinking maybe that Womens Basketball was his forte!
I see that's Stu's Cat has learned his lessons from last year and is ready to assume the traditional space at the top!!
I'm glad Duke lost. I like Coach K but until Josh McRoberts' eligibility expires I want to see them lose. McRoberts is from Indiana. He snubbed the state all-star team that plays a two-game series with the KY all-stars because he was not chosen Mr. Basketball. That honor went to Luke Zeller, who now is a sub at Notre Dame. McRoberts is from Carmel, which is a well-to-do community, and I'm sure he has a huge ego. As far as I'm concerned, he's a spoiled punk whose legacy will be that he was the starting center on a Duke team that got eliminated in the first round. Good!
I noted that a lot of ND posters from Indiana over on NDNation had similar feelings about McRoberts. I knew that Kentucky/Indiana played all-star games I just didn't know people took them so seriously.
