Elway may be....probably is making promises about OL upgrades.....Manning sees himself in the most positive light possible....capable of overcoming a few team weaknesses.....and certainly capable of winning with a team that a first year starting Qb could win with.......coached heavily into that thinking by a GM who didn't want that unconventional first year starter to begin with. Manning is that good... so who can blame him for thinking that way. He's also 36 with a very gimpy neck and probably has lost some of his mobility that he once had. After all......the Colts already had the legendary Qb in their locker room but cut him loose. It will be interesting to see what transpires. I would say if Tebow was as bad as some here think ( WSU....you there?) then it should be a no brainer that Manning takes the Broncos to the Super Bowl......right??
http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/Peyton-Manning-Denver-Broncos-San-Francisco-49ers-made-a-mistake-031912 Good analysis above. I agree after watching Denver a lot last year that the 49ers are Super Bowl ready in comparison. I don't think Elway has all that much money left under the cap to drastically alter the talent on hand either. And make no mistake about it McGahee had a great year last year......because of Tebow and the scheme......not the other way around.
I have always liked Manning and think he is a class act. I have no idea why he settled on Denver but he did and that's that. I like him and always will. Elway, not so much in my opinion as I don't think he ever wanted Tebow and was always looking to get rid of him. However as this article says I believe Tebow will end p somewhere and be in the league for a while. Tebow Will Be Heard From Again Another article about where Tebow might end up. Tebow Would Like To Head Back To Florida
...for a fourth round pick. Which was where he was originally projected to go by a number of draft "gurus"
As a Jet season ticket holder I think they stole Tebow. There is no downside, only an upside. He will sell tickets, memorabilia ( I think he had the #1 selling jersey last year ) and bring a little integrity to a team loaded with characters. He has probably paid for himself already.
Well said George. Tebow for whatever reason invites undue criticism from some. I'll be watching intently when Peyton Manning leads Denver to a Super Bowl title this year with the same cast of characters that required miracle finishes and an iron willed Qb to pull out games and the same team that lost miserably under Kyle Orton. Of course if he doesn't improve on what Tebow did it will somehow be Tebow's fault for screwing up the Bronco team chemistry so bad that not even the great Peyton Manning can get em turned around.  In any event.....General Managers in the NFL are judged by whether the team they put together wins games and puts fannies in the seats. If this team fails to do the former I suspect they will also fail to do the latter and this unending desire by Elway to have a protypical passer back there.....as fragile and immobile as he might be......will come back to bite him severely in the ass. So.....that's the risk.....the downside for Elway in this blockbuster move to sign the beautifully throwing and accomplished Manning vs. sticking with a kid who found ways to win with a ragtag bunch. To that end I think Elway truly hopes that Tebow will languish behind Sanchez on the Jet bench and he won't have to deal with any sort of Tebow talk for a long time.
Dave, until your analysis of tebow starts to resemble something in the neighborhood of reality, rather than a subject of your midnight fantasies, I have nothing to discuss with you on the subject. In fact, I had thought of posting about this a couple weeks ago when it became apparent that denver was leading in the manning sweepstakes, but didn't feel like bashing my head against a brick wall as you continued to lather up with tebow. Enjoy your delusions. I choose not to participate in your mania.
Only one reality to deal with here WSU.....winning. Throwing pretty and having a great track record may equate to that with this Denver team even though they ain't named Marvin Harrison and Edgerrin James.. We'll see.
Tebow traded to New York Jets along with a #7 round pick; in exchange Broncos get a #4 and #6 round pick. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/tim-tebow-jets-fourth-round-pick-171316720.html What I did not know until this night....it was Krebs all along... 8)
Bill, I watched Denver about 14 times last year. I know from watching those games that Tim Tebow made a helluva difference in their won-loss record and in their winning a division title. Note that the word "won"....."winning".....etc keeps coming up. It's a 90 million gamble by Elway that a 36 year old gimpy Manning will win more than Tebow managed last year. To say it's a no brainer.....that it's 100% gonna happen......is off the deep end to me.
It's not 90 million...his contract is diluted with health and injury clauses. Every analysis from every expert on ESPN says the same thing about Tebow...he doesn't have NFL caliber talent in his arm, technique, or ability to read and react. Manning was bred to be a QB...6-5, rocket arm, pin point accuracy, lives in the film room....Tebow is an exciting FB player, great faith and discipline, leader, motivator...but like they said, he's not a pro bowl QB, and they likely-hood that he will be, is 60-1 odds. Additionally, everyone is talking about the Bronco's OL...seems to me they gave him plenty of time to not see 3 receiver options, before tucking and running.
