Just so we're clear, in case anyone at home is confused and/or didn't see the Ravens-Broncos game.

The Broncos lost, not because of Manning, but rather their defense (including former SEC hero Champ Bailey) giving up these ridiculous playground bombs on 3rd and long or near the end of regulation that didn't just go for 1st downs, but rather touchdowns.

They are the types of plays that, if they took place at your church picnic pick up football game, you'd pull the person who made the terrible play and put them in charge of hot dog dispensing for the rest of the afternoon...and perhaps even all-time.

The quality of play, and this is not hyperbole, was beyond bad. It wasn't even pop warner level football. If an 8 year old gave up those multiple passes, they'd never see the field in the secondary again.

Now, we resume our regularly scheduled program 'Dave's World of Imaginary Reality' in progress....

So....speaking of instant TDs you are just forgiving Peyton for the pick 6?

....And.... the poor choice throw resulting in the OT pick on the Broncos 40 was truly the dagger that lost the game for Denver... no matter how you slice it.

In OT vs. Pittsburgh on his own 20 Tebow threw a strike for 80 yards to Thomas for the winning score....and it was no wobbly duck throw.....it was right on the mark and a beautiful throw with tight coverage.

On that Denver defense....yeah....same defense that got carved up by the Pats last year in the playoffs...... all Timmy's fault of course.

    MCG,
Obviously you are right and 32 teams of professionals are wrong. I just don't know how I didn't come to that realization sooner.

Kp.....lets wait and see what happens.

Obviously the offensively challenged Rex Ryan was no judge of Qb talent ( cue the Sanchez follies ) and the way things turned out in NY with him keeping his job and others fired it was Ryan's opinion that mattered most.

When the dust of the season settles some NFL team with a little more offensive savvy may decide Tebow is worth a shot.

Dave when Tebow isn't picked up by any team to play QB what are you going to argue, that all 32 GM's are stupid?

Terry.... when/if that happens I would argue that what he did on the field at Denver in live competition was being completely ignored and not taken in to account and that perhaps...as I said.... how he throws in shorts in June is the most important evaluator.... somehow more important than winning football games.....

    Worth repeating:

"In OT vs. Pittsburgh on his own 20 Tebow threw a strike for 80 yards to Thomas for the winning score....and it was no wobbly duck throw.....it was right on the mark and a beautiful throw with tight coverage".

But we'll see if anybody remembers......there are 7 months to go.

Dave reading your description it was a bomb right on the money catching the reciever in stride, something he does regualarily...ha ha ha... Instead of a crossing route of avg length that even a weak armed QB can make and the reciever runs away from his coverage...that TD was much more about the reciever than Tebow.

Plus it was an audible called by the OC and not TT when he saw Pitt crowding the box with 9. Pitt gambled that it was a run, OC saved TT from being hammered.

I also believe that Tebow has not been given a fair chance at QB.

Having said that, I also believe that all the hype and fanaticism from many of his fans will affect his ability to get another chance. If you bring him in and he doesn't make it you face a lot of the same ******** that MCG is throwing out here.

Jacksonville is a very logical place for him, however the new GM has said that he can't see a scenario where Tebow would be brought in. And after reading mindless post after mindless post after mindless post by MCG here you kind of have to understand the guys position.

His legions of fans are actually affecting his chances negatively in my mind and it's a shame.

    I'm going back to lurking.

    Bill,

I think it is more mindless that his numbers on the field are being completely discounted.....look at the comparison I listed btw him and Elway at the same stage of their careers.....there is no comparison.

Anyone remember Rick Mirer? He was damned near a rookie MVP his rookie year with only Jerome Bettis performing better. The sky seemed like the limit. Then the NFL defenses made adjustments. His perceived short comings were in fact exposed. He wasn't good at quick check downs and reading the more complex zone blitz schemes that were slowly taking over the game. Also, he seemed to struggle throwing the ball to his left. From year 2 on forward, defenses masked blitz schemes to him and took away the right side of the field. He couldn't make those adjustments. Keep in mind, his performance as a rookie wasn't in part time duty or in certain matchups. He started every game. He was consistently good over an entire year before NFL defenses exposed him.

Tebow appears to have a great many limitations himself. I guess all of those NFL GMs want to see those questions answered before they 'pull a Mirer' and let a guy go out there to tear down a season?

Or, we can assume the entire league just has it out for him....

    Bill, MCG,
I get back to the question, why would all of these NFL execs apparently make the same decision?

Manning gets comeback player of the year award and is runner up in MVP voting. Obviously the voters weren't delusional Gator fans. :D

Manning had a great regular season....awesome in fact.

Maybe that's good enough for the Denver fans and organization.

Now if the Denver Qbs weren't expected to play defense also he would be golden....

The Jets picked up Tebow for PR and jersey sales and got plenty of both. Ryan never wanted him and ex-GM Tannenbaum as taken full responsibility for signing him.

Sanchez is a below average pro QB with slow feet, no pocket presence and an average arm at best. And Tebow could not get playing time.

He is a wonderful person who suffered through a miserable year with dignity and made a fortune doing it.

I don't know anyone in the NFL who thinks Tebow has the potential to be a starting QB.

George.... I don't trust anyone who thinks Sanchez was a better option than Tebow....not after having watched both in action as starters over two seasons.

Sanchez was horrible this year....the worst I have seen......Tebow went to the playoffs and was directly responsible for 31 TDS.....numerous critical first downs keeping drives alive...... and only 15 TOs in spite of the fact he rushed the ball so many times.

If you really watched Tebow play.....really understand what he did.....you would think the defensive minded Rex Ryan hasn't got a clue about who can play Qb in the NFL.

Tebow may never play Qb again.....but Rex Ryan is still an idiot.
