So true..... and yet UF played those assholes the week before the SEC CG in several seasons under Spurrier....but the Gators were continually dogged on here in the past for not having a tough enough non-conference schedule.

    Asinine.....

I guess with all the anti-bullying efforts being made, Citadel is no longer a scheduling option.

I don't want to get into a long battle over whether or not Mack is a great coach or just a guy who assembled so much talent he was bound to win a lot of games. It is what it is, he won a NC beating on their home turf a team with 2 Heisman trophy winners, numerous first round draft choices coached by a guy who at the time was considered a great coach, and a great gameday coach, who won a lot of big games. That's sort of where Mack falls down, he didn't win a lot of conference championships and Stoops put some epic beatdowns on him. Oh and don't forget he beat Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl coached by another Big Time Coach who was considered one of the top coaches and a guy who was a great game day coach. Of course he also beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl, err Vince Young beat Michigan I guess. :).

Vince Young and Colt McCoy...no QB controversy's, great colllege QB's, big time winners. It sure helps the record to have those types of players.

Anyway, Mack has made a ton of money, he rescued UT Football and he'll be fine. He'll be in the College HOF someday and be just fine.

I can't believe my name isn't on that list! :)

I think we'll find out that it's damn hard to have a home run hire even for Texas. Ohio State was fortunate that Urban was on TV when they called, and Alabama was fortunate that Saban was tired of the NFL when they called. Other than that there really have been no home run hires in college football..ever. Always have to take a chance on a guy who's done well at a lesser program.

    Names...just my opinion.

    1. No Pro Coaches
    2. Art Briles should've been a candidate but that ship has sailed.

These are guys who actually might be lured to Austin IMHO, in no particular order.

    3. Gary Patterson
    4. James Franklin
    5. Charlie Strong
    6. Dabo Sweeny
    7. Larry Fedora
    8. Todd Graham

I can not see Jimbo Fisher leaving FSU although his name is thrown around. Coach Gus gets his name thrown around but I can't see him leaving Auburn, it would be a Kiffin type of move and he has no connect to UT unlike Kiffin who at least had a connection to USC. Brian Kelly would do really well at Texas, but I can't see him leaving ND right now.

Kes, that's an impressive list of candidates. :D

I vote for Eric Taylor. CLEAR EYES! FULL HEARTS! CAN'T LOSE!

After spending the holidays with the family around the fireplace I'll head to Chicago for our anniversary. In Jan. it's Puerto Vallarta and the whole month of Mar. we'll be at The Villages. Getting through the winter is pretty easy.

Lots of Love. I want him to stay at MSU, despite that fact that they will continue to be a tough opponent for ND while he is there. Eric Taylor is ready for a move to the college ranks. He's been idle since Friday Night Lights went off the air. :)

I just can't see Dantonio as a good fit at Texas...he's a good coach for sure, who knows since I left him off the list he'll be the next HC at Texas.

Well Jimbo is certainly being talked about, but things are going extremely well for Jimbo at FSU, he's got another outstanding recruiting class, Jameis Winston will be back again next year, FSU is back to being the top team in the ACC and with their history when they have a great year they will be in the mix for the NC. Now money, I have no idea what he earns at FSU, nor do I know if they are capable of matching what ever Texas might offer him...that would be the play if he makes the move. I just don't see it myself but I don't know what motivates these guys at this level.

I wonder if Muschamp is cursing the day that Foley called him.

If he was stepping in at Texas like Jimbo did at FSU for the deposed Bowden he would be getting a fresh start and no one would know yet that he is clueless on offense.

There will be a lot of coaches getting raises with the Texas job open. If in fact Texas really wanted Jimbo, they could offer him more than that 4M FSU is going to pay him. But to me if you are happy where you are at and have things going your way then I'm not sure what the hell another million or 2 would add to your life to take the risk?

Al Golden get a new contract? Now there is a guy who inspite of the success he has had at Miami should consider serously Texas if offered...the facilities, the salary, the recruiting, stadium that is mostly sold out every Sat with 100K or so fans...lot different than Miami. Austin is a good place, I know Miami is South Beach and a great place as well..but he should take a serious look if offered.

Terry I had the same thought process but have not heard a thing, at $2.1 million it would be a lot of upside. He has had success in recruiting and molding the team to his style but is probably too early in the process to be named with the others until he can demonstrate it on a yearly basis with wins....

I find it hard to believe that Brian Kelly is number 70 on this list...
