To start with Corey I haven't told anyone they aren't good enough just because of where they come from so that's a crock when it comes to you and me talking. Seems you've never come to grips with a few things. No system is ever going to be perfect to everyone so the good news for you is that no matter how many changes are made you will be able to find enough fault to go on these rants which you seem to enjoy so much. So you've found some people who write articles that support your current point. You can also find plenty of writers who don't agree with the articles you just posted.
I can find a lot more than that Bill. We all know college is a learning experience, and that life isn't always fair, but what kind of learning experience are you providing them? There is a blatant hypocrisy in Division One college football that prevents more than one-half of the teams playing in the 'bowl subdivision' from honestly having a chance at playing for the Championship before they ever set foot on the field. All you're telling that kid whose life long dream it was to play for his local team, say Utah, is that he should have followed Urban Meyer to Florida if he wanted to play for an NC because he'll never have the chance to at Utah.. Why not make them I-AA then? At least then they have a chance to play for a title by virtue of what they've done on the field.
Corey, you want to keep up with your negative look at life, college, football and whatever, help yourself. There is no way I can talk to someone who has the negative approach and unwillingness to even attempt to see another view like you have. Keep it up with your sky is falling, it's your choice. I am not buying.
I don't have to look for it, go to the sports pages and it is there. BTW-On a non-football related note.. Bliss just forwarded me this website of this guy stalking one of her shows guests... It's a bowl full of awesome. Look for the link in the back room later.
Interesting approach but using the existing conference games as 1st round tournament games may result in inequitable pairings for the two teams in those games ... vis-a-vis how the remaining teams are paired in the remaining 5 games. It's possible a 3rd place team in the SEC, Big-12, an/or ACC could have a "better" pairing than the top 2 teams in those conferences. If however, use of the Conference Championship games is needed, should the Big-10 vs Pac-10 be a stipulated 1st round game matchup? Without it, I could easily see a 1st round matchup of a 12-0 Alabama against an 11-1 UF .... while an 11-1 USC gets an 11-2 Cincinnati .... or an 8-4 VaTech gets a 9-3 BC ... etc
First thing - Hats off to the Gators and their Fans on their new National Championship... Second - Hey don't get Miami involved in this argument they are doing their best in giving Charleston Southern a run for mediocrity and don't even rate being worthy of of boosting someone's schedule these days and the answer is NO you can't have our old quarterback... Third - One of my long time beefs with the University of Florida is one of the reasons you never played Oklahoma in what a 100 years is that with the exception of the odd bowl game west of the Missippissi you have only played something like 4 regular season games west of that muddy river since Teddy Roosevelt was riding with the rough riders... It would be spectacular to see the Orange & Blue bomber rack up a few frequent flyer miles while playing other teams like California, Utah or BYU...Just for the enjoyment of this football fan... RC
REC- Please don't be a stranger. I love it when you post. Welcome back. Gaterz- You are proposing eliminating one entire conference. Having a Pac10 vs Big 10(11) 1st round playoff game doesn't make any sense. Take the 11 conference champs (let them decide their conference champ however they want...as we presently have it)... Those teams are in.. Mix in the 5 wildcards. UF finished the regular season ranked what..?? #2?? How in the world in a 16 team field do you see them playing #4 or #5 Alabama?? You'd be far more likely paired against Buffalo, East Carolina or Troy. The 'rough' matchups would be those teams in the middle where you would be sure to find a Penn State, Boise State, Cinci vs a Texas or Alabama. However, that is no different than other playoffs. The higher seeds get the perceived easier games early on while the middle seeds get the tougher 1st round games..
