    ...it's gonna happen. Where's there's talk (smoke) there's fire.

There's gonna be expansion. Absolutely no doubt about it.

It will happen, and it's gonna come sooner than a 16 year old on prom night.

So let's deal with it, and have fun with it by making a contest out of it.

    Here's the game.

    One entry, three spots. Choose the;

    (1) 1st new (expanded) Conf to gain more teams
    (2) The correct teams that actually bail to the new conf
    (3) The next Conf to have a knee jerk response

and the tie breaker being exactly which teams bail to that new conf

Winner gets an all expense paid trip to the next AJMSBR in a city of their choice.

    Who's in?

    1) Big 10 ...that's a lock, everybody is waiting on them.
    2) Neb, Missouri, and Rutgers. They go to 14 not 16
    3) Pac10, The ACC will wait and see what the ACC does.

I pretty much agree with Terry but will tweek it a bit.

    1. Big 10

    2. Nebraska, Missouri and Rutgers in the first wave. However Notre Dame breaks down and comes in with either Pitt or Syracuse as the 16th team.

    3. Either the Pac 10 or SEC will be next. I don't think the SEC will be waiting for the ACC but I do think the SEC might want to go slow enough to see if they could get Texas.

To clarify number 3, the SEC would want Texas who is the big prize in all of this. The Big prize because there is some doubt which way they will go. Notre Dame is the big prize if they go but if they go it's to the Big 10.

My hope for the SEC is Ga Tech and Clemson from the ACC and Texas and Texas A & M from the Big 12.

If you listen to the podcast I posted in another topic on the B10 expansion, you'll find that Texas is more likely to be interested in the Pac10 than the SEC. They feel that culturally and academically they have more in common with them. Oklahoma on the other hand seems to be some what of a misfit due to it's small TV appeal and small state status, this inspite of a lot of success on the field in football.

The Big Ten Commissioner today denied that any offers have been made to schools to join the conference.

I heard all that Terry and perhaps Texas is a better fit with the PAC 10. We shall see.

I was only stating my druthers, but I don't think it's a done deal one way or the other. But if you end up in the Pac 10 they have made out quite well.

    Bill,

I think for Texas fans, there is some animosity towards the SEC, and some connection to the Pac10...don't really know why.

I can sum it up in one word: HIPPIES

All those hippies in Austin have an affinity for the left coast...
