Correct Gipper.....Halliburton spun off KBR. KBR has not been a part of Halliburton since 2006. Halliburton's stock is at an all-time high for the same reason that crude and every oil services firm hanging a shingle is at an all-time high. Check out the fine oil services firm of French origin - Schlumberger or SLB.....stock had never been above $40 or so in its history now trading above $100.....clearly Cheney's doing.

    MCG,

Were you not condemning Bush for a war over oil in the beginning? Now that gas prices are skyrocketing, are you now changing horses in the middle of the stream?

Thanks for reminding me of the spinoff. Here's just a little info on Haliburtan
KBR, Inc. (formerly Kellogg Brown & Root) NYSE: KBR is an American engineering and construction company, formerly a subsidiary of Halliburton, based in Houston. After Halliburton acquired Dresser Industries in 1998, Dresser's engineering subsidiary, The M. W. Kellogg Co., was merged with Halliburton's construction subsidiary, Brown & Root, to form Kellogg Brown & Root. KBR and its predecessors have won many contracts with the U.S. military during the 2003 invasion of Iraq, as well as during World War II and the Vietnam War.
Note that KBR had many contracts during WWII and Vietnam wars fought during Democratic administrations. But as usual the delusional left see the Iraq contracts as something unclean and unique to the present administration.

In the spirit of fairness and full disclosure I post the following. Note the reference to Dresser Ind. in my prior post:

<<<( I don't know why but I cannot paste info here. In any event G.H. W. Bush and his father were connected with Dresser.)>>>

Bet some of you didn't know that one of the biggest investors in Zapata was an Englishman. This investor's son had a roomate in college of some notariety....Tony Blair.

My son the NJ State trooper just called and told me that one of his fellow troopers was just killed in Sadr City by a roadside bomb. He was a language specialist working with the Iraqi police teaching them basic English.

He was a Major in the Army and a Det. Sgt, in the NJSP. He leaves his family behind.

He was on his third tour of duty, presumably "bringin' freedom to freedom loving peoples" if you can believe that ******** any longer.

    George....very sad.

    Gipper....
Between this bit of curious info and Cheney's past with Haliburton when they owned KBR you just have to wonder about the coincidences of things and the impact of Cheney/Bush war actions as it relates to the good fortunes of these companies since the invasion of Iraq.

The coincidences are pretty unusual and close to home.

Maybe there is nothing to it but you have to know that the Bush's and Cheney's have some pretty wealthy and happy old friends back at the country club as a result of the invasion of Iraq.

My fishing buddy from Florida came in yesterday for a weekend visit.....going over to Canada for a little Walleye fishing....

He is a sportsman who also likes to shoot sporting clays as well and he is a member of a gun club in SE Florida.

He has 3 friends who have been good ol Florida redneck types for the longest he can remember and he tells me these guys are so fed up with what has been going on they are voting for Obama.

His prediction is Obama in a landslide and if that kind of sentiment exhibited by his friends becomes more commonplace I would agree.

Here's the problem. Obama is clearly the better speaker, projects a better image, looks more "commanding". But if he had a Congress to work with that had a clear Democratic majority, he could financially destroy our economy in a heartbeat with his stated intent to redistribute wealth with windfall profit taxes, increased taxes on small business, repeal of Bush's tax cuts, etc. Plus he has stated emphatically that he is against drilling in Anwar, offshore in the US and is against nuclear power.

Now think about this, MCG. None of those stated positions will do anything but harm us. He is guaranteeing a continued dependence on foreign oil while hammering business, both big and small, with confiscatory taxes. Can you create any scenarios where any of his socialist ideas will be helpful to us going forward?

I meant to reply to the comment earlier. First of all, it's a complete copout. Democrats were elected because they promised their delusional mindless robots that they would do something. Just how many vetos had Bush actually used during his 7+ years?
Second, this is a perfect example of why the symbol of the Democratic Party should be the white flag. Notice how they don't even TRY if the outcome is in doubt. This is just what we don't need in a Commander in Chief. Why doesn't Obama show some balls? How about running against McCain instead of Bush?

Seems to me that American business has become driven by a very few extremely wealthy individuals at the top of corporations, investment funds....etc..

They exhort profit from companies at all costs so they themselves can become filthy rich and even when they fail they are still filthy rich due to all of the golden provisions they vote in for themselves.

If these guys get personally taxed more so be it.

    Constitution be damned!

Targeted tax relief at the expense of convenient targets. The party in power gets to levy onerous taxes against anyone they feel has profited excessively. This can be totally subjective. For example, Donald Trump is an unabashed capitalist pig so we nail him to the wall. But Al Gore gets a pass because he is into green ( even if his personal energy consumption says otherwise ). Barack made $6 mil from a book but he gets a pass because he advocates "change". Jim Tressel gets hammered because he coaches an "over rated" team but Urban Meyer gets a tax cut because his team plays in the SEC.

I think I've got it.

Not to stray too far but how about Obama asking his supporters to send more $$ so he can help Hillary pay down $12 mil in her campaign debt? I hope you all can appreciate how rare it is to see the intimate details of a top flight shakedown, especially as it is taking place. At least we know how much her endorsement was worth to the Big O.... $12 mil!

I wonder what kind of pictures Hillary has of either Obama or his wife to back up her shakedown.
