Terry, I am so close to the airport that it wouldn't be that much of a problem. Sunday morning is a bit more of a problem with me as we are leaving am also. It's an 800 mile trip and we hope to make it in one day. What time do you arrive Friday?
I'm coming in on Continental at 3:12PM. So waiting around a little for Stu and Gip isn't a big deal. Gip are you and Mary flying in together, I seem to remember something about her arriving later.
Truck is loaded: 6 folding chairs 2 roll around coolers DeWalt battery operated AM/FM radio Devoid of DVD player in case a Gator Bowl DVD shows up!
She has 5 hours and 28 minutes to be in the passenger seat and belted in. Husker better be callin' his "future boss" and lighting a fire under her arse!
Cindy got off 3.5 hours earlier than expected. She is on her way home. We should be pulling out of the drive by 2 p.m. central time. Shutting down the computer and stowing it away. Will check in when we stop somewhere tonight.
Didn't stop until we were almost in Kansas last night so it was late and no computer came out. We are in our hotel in Shawnee and resting for a while before heading for the Zone tonight.
Everyone should have been there. We all got together at the 810Zone tonight. From the Skybox: AJ Stu Gipper Bobda Gator Bill & Jeanne Terry Tom & Cindy AJ and Bill brought guests that raised our table total to 15. After three hours, I think the wait staff were taking bets on whether we would be there to close the joint or not. I have never felt more at home around a bunch of guys and gals that for the most part had never set eyes on each other. I am looking forward to tomorrow's tailgate even more. Where else but the Skybox could 8 members of opposing universities come together and act like they had known each other all their lives. I have been talking some of the members of this group for 19 years. I met 3 of them for the first time tonight. AJ made it known why we are doing this. As we al know, Andy (AJNJ) left us in the fall of 2007. We had known him all those years and never met the man. We didn't want that to happen again. AJ led a hoisiting of the glasses in memory of Andy. Thanks guys. Thanks for a memorable evening with good food, good drink, and good friends.
I have become a bit acclimated to the fact that there will be spanish speaking people in and around the area of Central Texas. This morning, we went to breakfast to be seated next to a large family that was speaking spanish only. There was one member that spoke fluent English. The rest spoke only Spanish. This far away from the border, I would have thought this not to be a problem. I have had it up to my ears with diversity. I want this country to move back to the morals and values we had 100 years ago. We should start with mandated English. If you want to speak your native language in your own house... do so. However, after being in this country for a maximum of 6 months, conversational English should be a requirement. I'll get off my soap box now but this is just something that brings out the worst in me.
