I am reading some articles that the Big Ten might consider dropping Penn State from the conference. Where this all ends up is anyone's guess at this point.

I'll go this far.. and this is just my personal opinion.

I'd gladly see ND join the Big10 if it meant that Penn State dropped football forever.

I wonder if the B10 has specific language in it's by laws that allows it to unilaterally boot out a member for anything?

Also I saw that Nick Saban suggested that Penn State put a tax on all tickets to sporting events and give the proceeds to charities assoc with child abuse. How dumb, that would make Penn State fans pay for the problem.

Apparently they are going to take down JoePa's statue...but I get the feeling they don't really want to take it down.

Interesting article on what was known about Sandusky before 1998 from a GA who was there in the early 90's. As JO'Co has already said, he didn't just start this in 1998 and people noticed but didn't do anything.

This morning I see where President Erickson of Pen State has ordered Joe's statue to be removed and placed in storage.

The NCAA hammer comes down on Penn State tomorrow. The head of the NCAA at this time is from Oregon State and he won't rule out the "death penalty." After clobbering so many schools for relatively minor infractions and taking a scholarship away from Notre Dame after finding zero infractions; I'll be curious to see if the NCAA has the guts to do what everyone outside of Pennsylvania knows needs to be done...

I read one article that speculated on the severity of the penaltues, saying that the death penalty might be preferable. It's only one writer's opinion, but if he/she has any inside information, it could be historically severe.

I would agree the imposed sanctions by the NCAA are far worse and more meaningfull than the so called death penalty.

Wow, these are devestating to Penn State. You have to wonder what O'Brien is thinking right now. With the reductions in scholarships alone he will have no chance of being successful, he's fooked. I'm sure that when he took the job that he never ever considered that the NCAA would penalize the football program. I'd bet he felt that with a clean sweep of the staff that they would be a new sheet going forward. The criminal activity of Sandusky woudl be just that, and not a football problem. He likely was blind sided by the massive coverup that was uncovered by the Freeh report to protect the Football program and Paterno's legacy.

They will be a decade recovering from these sanctions.

Also the B10 is going to sanction Penn State as well. I wonder what else they can do to them beyond what the NCAA has already done.

Looks like a 11:00 news conference by the Big Ten Office to announce sanctions or penalties.
