Jaskewicz Memorial Football contest - Standings topic

Ya'll just go on ahead.. I'll be here holding down the rear of the pack.

 

All scores checked out. The only difference is the order of the 3 people tied for 9th. The tir breaker that I announced weeks ago was that the person with higher dropped points would win out in a tie.

You are only 23 points out of the top 10. That can turn around in one week... especially when the UTEP's of the world upset top 25 teams! :roll:

My question is this: Why didn't El Paso Irish choose UTEP? :wink:

 

most of the action was on 4 games:

1. Everybody picked Houston to win, they lost.
2. LSU/UGa, MSU/UM, and Miami/OU had play on both sides.
3. Only NDfan77 picked Vandy but he only put 5 points on it. He must have been taking a shot at Ole Miss having an emotional letdown after the tough loss at So.Car.

I do wish Yahoo would have the same number of games each week. This week my score was dropped even though it was my best week, I finished tied for 1st with the gipper a prodigous feat. But all of our scores were dropped because it was few games than the previous 3 weeks, and everybody's 1st week was dropped again because of the number of games. It would be so much fairer to have the same number of games each week.

 

That great score from you and Gip will raise your stats on the next short week. I had a decent week but it was my score from a previous week that came back into play that moved me up to second place.

That is the thought process that made me decide that the dropped points would settle an overall tie. The higher points will valt that person higher as soon as the score comes back into play.

The Yahoo system of selecting only the top 25 ranked teams limits the amount of games some weeks. However, it does eliminate the "Why didn't my team get chosen for the contest this week" questions.

vandy beat ole miss last year. 77 was playing a good hunch there.

 

This week, we have four people that picked perfect games picking the right two underdogs. If I have it figured correctly, "Maybe this year" wins the tie breaker with "Lane's Boys" second, "LoneStar Irish" third and "Gipper" forth. I will check my figures in the morning, but if I have the dropped points right, the standings should look like this:

All has been verified and the chart is correct. However, the tie breaker did not work out like I thought because it shows me as the winner for week 6.

 

Monte's Mob had a relatively bad week and came in at 24th this week. However, he retains the top position because his 130 point game this week was dropped and he picked up his 149 point game from week one that was previously dropped.

 

Angry Mob is totally dominating the Ryckman race. Is Stu's Cat no longer making his picks? :wink:

 

Not a lot of points between #1 and #10...we all have hope!

 

The scary part is one of the top 10 actually missed a week. I am sure that in the short week(s) that missed week will come back to haunt him. But for now, he is holding up well!

At this point, 26 points separate 1st and 10th, actually 11th... If the Big Ten can have 11, our top ten can too! 8)

 

Another addition to week 6: I am also in a "money" contest using the exact same picks (Lane's Men instead of Lane's Boys to keep them separate) I use here in another group on Yahoo. The Commish of that group is a Gator Fan that used to be my manager. He is the one that hired me at Applied Materials at the end of 1999. He just sent out the weekly notification. It reads:

Lane's Men and Hog Wild, both off the high of their real team wins (Vols over Dawgs & Hawgs over War Eagles), put in a perfect show this weekend. Yet, it was Lane's Men who prevailed as the Hog Wild tie-breaker was looking for a shootout reminiscent of the PAC-10, while Lane's Men saw the more traditional SEC defensive battle. Congrats Lane's Men. As much as it hurts me to pay anyone that can root for the Rocky Top, you're cash is on the way.

Wednesday and Thursday night games between ranked opponents but they are not in the contest. I am fairly certain that we will never have any games starting before Friday evening.

Friday night game opponents are not ranked.

All games are Saturday games this week.

 

It appears that Oklahoma State will hold on and Utah just scored again to go up by 20 with about 13 minutes left in the game.

As usual, I will check the scores tomorrow but I think this chart will be correct.

Congrats to Bama-Bo-Bear for bleeding the least today and winning week 7 by one point over Florida Bucks and KP.

Half of the top 10 are SEC fans: 3 Vols, 1 Gator, and 1 Bama fan.
