    Scott,

I don't have a problem with the short week because everyone is playing on the same field. I neither gives anyone an advantage nor does it penalize anyone. The only "problem" is that it doesn't provide many points.

Now, if that is someone's throwaway week, then they don't benefit, but you need to be aware of it and make sure it does not become your throwaway week. It happens late enough in the season that it should not be a problem. Just my opinion.

Actually Sid, it does penalize the folks that miss a week. (not saying that isn't fair - the player shouldn't miss a week)

If we typically have 15 games, that's 124 available points. A week with 6 is only 21.

Player A averages 100 points a week, and never misses for 10 weeks. He's got 1000 points.
Player B averages the same 100 a week, but misses one week and has 900.

The final week is the short week, worth only 50 points, and player B hits all of them for a final total of 950.
Player A does terrible and only gets 10 points, but he drops that week for a final of 1000.

The short week has a big effect because it is SO small.

I see your point, Scott. On that basis, I would not be opposed to dropping the short week at the end of the season, but I also am OK if we keep it. If the latter, it will require all of the participants to be vigilant to avoid the situation you described.

18 people signed up and I recognize each one. If someone signs up that I don't recognize, I'll post that team name here and send out a message to the distribution list. If nobody claims it via e-mail to me, it will be deleted from the group.

In theory I'm for dropping a week or two. The problem is though that if my bad week is a high point total week then it usually is kept because the low point total weeks points will still be less.

I don't know just how to balance that but that is the way it is so hope you don't have a bad week on a high point total week.

This is not a complaint, just laying out the facts. :)

Unless I'm doing the math wrong there is no reason to drop only one game...it doesn't help anybody who forgot a week because they drop a regular week but those who remembered every week will drop that stupid short week.

So I say drop two (so you can at least forget once and still be in contention) or keep them all.

I'm glad we have smart guys like Scott and Stu figuring these things out.

After I talked about it at lunch with two guys who are playing the same game with me in another league that I put together with family and local friends, I confirmed the validity of Scott's analysis and I changed the settings to drop two games. In short, this eliminates the controversy caused by the short week.

We have a guy from my office that is going to step into the contest. He was in last year and helped raise everyone else's standings. Let's hope that he does the same this year. Ladies and Gentlemen... Heath DeShong.

Schuler??? That guy turned a failed NFL career into a lucrative congressional post. He'd probably win hands down. I frown on inviting outside people like that!

Kesley has been out of town for the last week so I was giving him some time to get in, and see if anyone else on the Skybox wanted in.
If not, we can either grab some outside guys, or I'll shrink the league to eight teams, and reset it.
