No doubt the kid has a great future. But he's still just 19, and the Masters is a pretty big stage for a kid like that. I'd be suprised if he was in the top 25 when it was done on Sunday.
OK I posted my favorites above. My non Tiger list is Villegas Goosen Jiminez Kim K J Choi This is my favorite golf weekend of the year. Let's tee it up.
So far the line-up of excluded-no brainer picks is as follows: AJ Couples Els Stenson Goosen Mcilroy MCG Furyk Casey Watney Garcia Villegas Terry D.J. Trahan Briney Baird K.J. Choi Tim Clark Steve Stricker Gipper Villegas Goosen Jiminez Kim K J Choi AJ---you keeping score?
gipper can probably do this... From Jason Sobel's blog on the WWL from today's Par 3 contest: "There's a tradition here in which players skip balls across the pond on the par-3 16th hole, trying to land their shots on the green. Players who accomplish that get cheered; those who don't get booed." This video is from yesterday (Tuesday). Vijay is the second one in the video to tee off. You can't tell from the video, but supposedly his ball skipped four or five times <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6GKSJOSsExE&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6GKSJOSsExE&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Your game Dave. I'll have to do the wave off due to school and the kids just started BBall practice. Pysch mid-term due Monday. Enough excuses? BTW, explain to me again how you want to do players missing the cut?
This is starting to sound like O'Keefe golf, back nine mulligan, morphing golf balls, do overs, automatic 2 putt greens.
Terry I've been to 3 practice rounds over the past years. The 16th green skip shot is really fun. The first time I saw it, Faldo was playing to the crowd. I thought at first it was a "Nick" thing but then I saw other players doing it too. I guess that you can say, during the practice rounds, the players "skip" 16.
That's pretty impressive that you've been to 3 Masters. You must know people who know people! Trivia. Zach Johnson is the only Masters winner since 1990 who wasn't in the Final pairing on Sunday. Trivia: I am suprised at this. Goeff Olgivey has gotten worse with each of his Masters appearances. Everybody says he has the game for the Masters, maybe he doesn't have the nerves. I have to say of all the Major tournaments, I like the Masters the most to watch and the least when it comes to gear. I know a guy who went 2 years ago and he got me a hat, it's ugly. US Open gear is cool, Masters sucks.
OK AJ I'll log the results. If your player misses the cut you automatically get plus 2 each day for Sat and Sun play to go along with his Thurs/Fri scores.
The first time I went to the Masters, anyone could walk up to the ticket window and get in to a practice round. Now they have lotteries. I've never been to the tournament itself. That's for big shooters like Commish.
Tim Clark leader in the Club House. BTW: My nephew knows Tom Jenkins (Champions Tour Player) and is running a contest like the one we have here. Tom entered a team. His picks Ernie Els Rory McIlroy Pat Perez Justin Rose Retief Goosen
Whoa....Chad Campbell got off to a smokin' start birdied 5 straight holes. Could shoot 30/31 on the front 9 if he pars/birdies #9.
My man Furyk....in at -6! http://www.cbssports.com/golf/leaderboard/p/292758 Isn't it top 70 on the cut? I think I am looking good there.
The leaderboard: AJ (+6) Couples +1 Els +3 Stenson -1 Goosen +3 Mcilroy E MCG (-6 ) Furyk -6 Casey E Watney -2 Garcia +1 Villegas +1 Terry ( E ) D.J. Trahan E Briney Baird +1 K.J. Choi +3 Tim Clark -4 Steve Stricker E Gipper ( +13 ) Villegas +1 Goosen +3 Jiminez +3 Kim +3 K J Choi +3
Did I miss on a player because the math is right. On the original pick thing....it would be no fun if we all had 3 or 4 common players so this is a little more of a test although at -6 I'm not sure I could have done better.
Dave, the math is right, but you signed an incorrect scorecard. Mcilroy completed his Thurs round at Even par.
