    Not so fast my friend, that Tennessee team was soundly beaten by a Cal team that was hammered in Pac10 play.<br/>
    <br/>
    Honestly, I think the two 'best' teams right now are Georgia and USC and yes, I can make a strong case for both.<br/>
    <br/>
    LSU hasn't been world beaters this year fellas. I have said all year that this team could have, and very well should have, lost as many as 4 games this year.. They are far from a runaway choice.</r>

    Ohio State schedules their games just like the teams in the other big conferences. 8 conference games and 4 non conference games with one of the non conference games being a decent team and pretty much 3 patsies.

    Much like the Gator schedule.

    If I were ranking the teams as to who should go to the Championship game it would be Ohio State 1 and LSU 2 just as it's turning out.

    Hawaii in the Championship game? Give me a break, if they were in any of the major conferences and finished 12-0 there would be no question, but they don't and I don't see them belonging in any way what so ever.

    Just my opinion.

    actually

    <t>that isn't true.<br/>
    <br/>
    with the addition of the extra game, the Pac10 added an extra conference game giving them a true round robin and an extra game against a BCS conference foe. This keeps them from adding another patsy.<br/>
    <br/>
    While people are kicking USC's SOS, who would have thought that Nebraska and Notre Dame would be crappy in the same year?<br/>
    <br/>
    I just read somewhere that according to Sagarin, 5 of the top 7 toughest schedules were in the Pac10.<br/>
    <br/>
    This system sucks arse. It gives you the illusion of rules and structure, but really its going to do whatever serves its agenda.<br/>
    <br/>
    I see what you guys are saying about LSU, I do. However, once again here we are and the pollsters are going to have to totally blow up what they've been saying all year to fit the criteria of the media and BCS for a 'true' NC game.<br/>
    <br/>
    So what gets me is this... What makes this final poll valid if all the other ones prior to it were bullsh*t?? That is exactly what they are asking us to buy into...and we keep eating it up with big bites.</t>

    Some one should have told Hawaii before the season that no matter if they win all their games or not they would be judged unworthy.... they could have saved a lot of sweat.

    oh

    <r>and as for Hawaii.<br/>
    <br/>
    You have to love the anti-Warrior sentiment coming from any BCS fan. They are trying to crack into a system set up to benefit only certain BCS conferences...and there is most certainly a pecking order even within the BCS conferences that is followed regardless of on-field results.<br/>
    <br/>
    Hawaii gets punished for not having enough BCS conference teams on its schedule. However, NO ONE refutes the claim that BCS conference teams <B><s></s> RAN<e></e></B> from them this year. Michigan State bailed on them and paid the buyout 6 weeks before kickoff. Hawaii offered tons of money and no one would go to the island.<br/>
    <br/>
    Only in this system can a non BCS team be punished for the cowardice of a BCS conference team..<br/>
    <br/>
    ugh</r>

    WRT top BCS+1 game contenders, SOS ratings differ significantly and all but one team have as many FBS division wins as tOUS. Plus, many of the teams have an equal or better won/loss record against BCS ranked opponents that tOSU - eg Oklahoma has more FBS division wins than OSU and has more wins against BCS ranked teams than does OSU. Add to that the fact Oklahoma needed to defeat the previous #1 rated BCS team just to get consideration for the BCS+1 game. Yet, tOSU will get the nod because ....... Oklahoma has 2 losses in 13 FBS game schedule.

    Rank - SOS - FBS Wins * BCS Ws - BCS Ls * BCS win%
    #1 - 13 - 11 * 2 - 2 * 0.500
    #2 - 47 - 10 * 0 - 1 * 0.000
    #3 - 48 - 10 * 1 - 1 * 0.500
    #4 - 25 - 9 * 2 - 1 * 0.667
    #5 - 81 - 10 * 0 - 1 * 0.000
    #6 - 3 - 10 * 3 - 2 * 0.600
    #7 - 24 - 11 * 4 - 0 * 1.000
    #8 - 39 - 11 * 3 - 0 * 1.000
    #9 - 80 - 10 * 1 - 1 * 0.500

    Corey, I believe all of the Big 10 quit scheduling Hawaii after Michigan State and Northwestern had games stolen from them by the refs. I remember watching both games and penalty call differential was grossly in favor of Hawaii which, on its face, is comical given Hawaii's well earned reputation as one of the dirtiest teams in college football. The NW game was the most egregious with scores being wiped off the board by non exsistent penalties and the loss costing NW a bowl bid. Going to Hawaii to play remains a running joke on the NW BB.

    <t>I posted an article that covered the for and again each in another section just now.<br/>
    <br/>
    In short, Georgia won 6 straight to close out the season. Technically they tied for the SEC East lead but lost out on the title game due to tie-breaker.<br/>
    <br/>
    They were one of the youngest teams in the country who started slow but hasn't lost since October 6th.<br/>
    <br/>
    To finish out the season, they manhandled a Florida team that gave LSU fits. They absolutely destroyed an Auburn team who was one competent head coach willing to review a spot away from beating LSU themselves. They closed the regular season by destroying their in-state rival on the road while the team that everyone (including you) holds out to be the real #2 closed the regular season by losing at home to an unranked team.<br/>
    <br/>
    During the stretch in which Georgia went 6-0, LSU went 4-2.</t>

    <t>I would imagine most all football talk on NW boards would be a running joke.<br/>
    <br/>
    And umm, Big10 guys whining about bad officiating? Didn't we have a whole scandal about this earlier in the year?</t>

    Actually, it is a fun board upon which to lurk . There is, as you might imagine, not a large group of posters but nearly all are die hard Cat fans. There are several ex-players from various eras who are regular posters. Several of the regular posters are outstanding writers and more than a few are very funny. I doubt if there are many BB concerning Div 1 football like this one in terms of quality of writing, depth and passion of the posters, intimicy in terms of small number of posters, along with the musings by ex players, etc.

    I am not sure exactly what you are talking about although I don't think Domers take a back seat to anyone when it comes to whining about officals. Gawd, do I need to go to the archives to pull out gems associating officiating miscues with anti Papist conspiracies. Big 10ers with Midwestern roots tend to be more stoic about these things 8) .

    In terms of jobbings from officals, what wss done to NW and MSU by the refs in Honolulu ranks close, and maybe worse, to what the PAC 10 refs did to Oklahoma last year when they were jobbed in Eugene.

    given

    <t>the nature of the beat at Northwestern, I would assume that would be the case.<br/>
    <br/>
    Do you ever read the Duke football boards? I do. While I would imagine the writing and production values would be better with Northwestern, the Dookies are pretty damned funny.<br/>
    <br/>
    btw-did you see the jam job the replay officials did on ND-Stanford? whew.<br/>
    <br/>
    officials suck everywhere. That is why I find it laughable to avoid scheduling Hawaii. All you have to do is insist on bringing your own officials. They knew this potential nightmare of BCS slighting was at hand. They were offering a rumored 900k to some opponents.. I'm sure they'd let you bring the refs too if you say they get to use theirs on a return visit to the mainland.</t>

    The problem with Hawaii involved not only dealing with corrupt officals by with their dirty play and the conduct of their fans. I thought similar considerations caused ND to quit scheduling Miami?
