Those teenage girls got a hungry look in their eyes when the performer was Bobby Darin...

He had musical hits in rock, big band, country western and folk music. Like Sammy Davis Jr. he played every instrument in the band and had a successful career as a movie actor. He also became the stand-in for Johnny Carson on his late night TV show and was so popular that Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin had a Bobby Darin dart board. Unfortunately, he was born with a defective heart and died at age 37.

Jim, thank you for the biographical video on the life of Bobby Darin. He was one of my very favorite entertainers during my teenage years and beyond. I marveled at his singing voice and loved his brashness. I did not know until the video his life story re: his father, his real mother, and his grandmother. I always thought he would have been perfect as a member of the Rat Pack.

I too was a Bobby Darin fan. He was a talent so incredible, that it's difficult to find anyone to compare him with.

Not Music..but a little bit funny!

A RETIREE'S LAST TRIP TO STOP AND SHOP

Yesterday I was at my local Stop and Shop buying a large bag of Purina Dog Chow for my loyal pet, Jake, the Wonder Dog, and was in the check-out line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog.

What did she think...I had an elephant?

So because I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.

I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is, to load your pants pockets with Purina Nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.)

Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me.

I told her no, I stopped to pee on a fire hydrant and a car hit me.

I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard.

Stop and Shop won't let me shop there anymore

Better watch what you ask retired people. They have all the time in the world to think of crazy things to say.

This 60's band had great talent. It included Graham Nash of Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Both the Beatles and the Rolling Stones regarded them as the greatest rock band in the world. These are The Hollies...

I've got it on DVD. It's a great show, so many great rockers working with Roy.
