I have about 140 songs on my karaoke song list..... Black Magic Woman by Santana and Long Way to the Top by ACDC are two of them.
Other "go to" songs that I sing.... "go to" meaning that if the room is full with a lot of singers and I am only going to get maybe a couple of shots to impress the audience I sing songs that I know I can nail including:
    Piano Man - Billy Joel
New York State of Mind - Billy Joel
Heart of Gold - Neil Young
    Old Man - Neil Young
Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf
    I Feel Fine - Beatles
    My Life - Beatles
    Blackbird- Beatles
With a Little Help From my Friends - Beatles
    Purple Rain - Prince
Just What I Needed - The Cars
    Tennessee Whiskey- Chris Stapleton
    Shine - Candlebox
    December- Candlebox
    Blurry - Puddle of Mudd
Interstate Love Song - Stone Temple Pilots
    Outside - Staind
Wanted Dead or Alive - Bon Jovi
    Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
    Love Her Madly - Doors
    Back Door Man - Doors
Jumpin Jack Flash - Rolling Stones
    Angie - Rolling Stones
Behind Blue Eyes - The Who
Fire and Rain - James Taylor
I even do a mean Stairway To Heaven.... but the ending high pitch lines by Robert Plant are really difficult to duplicate.

There's a few more that I can't remember until I peruse my list kept by the DJs that I can do well and many more that I do once in a while. It's fun.... allows me to hang out in the bar but it keeps me from drinking and it get's me out of the house. The damn thing is I never realized I could actually sing until I quit drinking and started singing..... and I'm not bad.... sometimes getting great compliments which is always cool to hear.

    Dave,

I gotta go on record saying that I'd rather lick all the furniture clean in a New York City Nursing home, than hear you decimate an absolute classic as Stairway to Heaven.

    Awesome stuff Jo'Co..... thanks.
And LZ's Stairway to Heaven was the karaoke version..... prompted a little sing along from me. :)

I went to sing karaoke last night for the first time in three months.... Heart of Gold by Neil Young and Piano Man by Billy Joel.

Maybe the biggest fraud in pop music early '60's was ever so cute Shelly Faberes! Johnny Angel. She admitted later that she never did tours or live performances because she couldn't really sing, it was all smoke and mirrors and backup singers and lots of manipulation by the producer. Still she was such a cutie, who cares...and get a load of Donna Reid not bad!

Linda Rondatdt covered it in 1976 and it reached #11. Of course the original was Buddy Holly and the Crickets in 1957. The original version is #39 of Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
