LOL! I have a close friend who is an IU fan and just like you when it comes to Purdue. He would not think you got carried away.
Apparently, Purdue and ND is not necessarily history. The two ADs are trying to work out a way to continue the series. It may or may not be necessary to take a break. It may or may not get done. Stay tuned. http://www.indystar.com/article/201...duling-likely-affect-Purdue-Notre-Dame-series
I got the impression that visiting teams get a pretty good payday from NBC. Anyone know what that is and how it compares to a PU home game?
Gonna make Tim Gentry Happy to tell him that Quentin Robinson a 4 Star OT has committed to ND. He's the #8 rated OT by Rivals, Irish are battling hard for another OT a Irish Legacy named Alex Bars also a 4* and the #6 rated OT by Rivals. Put those two with the OG that we already have and it's a very good OL haul for Kelly and the Irish.
As far as ND/PU paydays. While I'm sure the visitors to ND stadium get a good paycheck, I doubt it matches what Purdue makes when they play a home game.
ND <t>Terry,<br/> <br/> The Nelson kid is a very nice pick up for the Irish! Another one of those Jersey Boys!</t>

I'm not sure I understand this whole concept. Why do we need to add classrooms and stuff to the stadium? And how does that enhance game day experience? Notre Dame to explore uses for Stadium and area
I only saw one of five bullet points related to football games. I'm not sure the other four objectives have anything to do with football.
I say we figure out how to beat everyone we play in the football stadium before we start coming up with alternative uses for it.
I like it. It's an intelligent concept. The plan expands the usefulness of the largest structure on campus far beyond the 6 or 7 days a year that now comprise its use. The stadium footprint provides an existing foundation for new, architecturally consistent add-on construction. It enables the university to expand its scope of academic and social offerings without taking up more green space. It appears that there will be new suite-type game viewing opportunities for the deep-pocketed alumni/fans, thus providing attractive new revenue opportunities. It won't impede in any way the game day experience. Fans attending the games will notice a different configuration on the outside of the structure, but otherwise they won't be concerned about it because it's on the way to their ultimate destination, the inside of the stadium. It's no surprise to me that it's a smart, functional, and architecturally sound concept. Going back to the beginning, every structure on the campus is well-planned, functional, and architecturally consistent. This is no different.
Years ago I was told that the long term building plans would eventually put the JACC in the middle of the campus. Hard to visualize but it does seem as though most of the recent expansion has been to the east and south. Seems to me that the intend to further reduce the parking area around the stadium to accomodate the expansion. That's not particularly good news.
The drawings of the expanded stadium all look very nice and truthfully there has been little criticism of the expansion in terms of the esthetics. Like gipper I worry about the reduction in parking. I still lament the loss of Red Field and Green Field, although I know they have been put to good use. We have virtually no parking around DKR Memorial Stadium in Austin but there is still a pretty active pregame ritual. Some of it is in parking garages and there are some open spaces that people tailgate in. But iit's nice to park around the stadium and tailgate there..just walk to your seats.
Brian Kelly was at the ND club of Dallas this week for UND night. Good recap of his speech here: Kelly at Dallas Club
Fighting Irish coaches were in my neighborhood looking at Jeff Farrar of Upland HS. My granddaughter is a JV softball player at Upland, which is right up the street and she confirmed that he's the captain of the team and probably the best football player in the school. Upland is a Div II football power and one of the largest high schools in the state, being the only high school in a city of 85,000 people... http://www.irishsportsdaily.com/recruiting/notre-dame-football-recruiting/9204-nd-looking-at-cali-athlete
I don't know. What complicates things is that the Farrar's have adopted some kids. I'll try to find out as the season goes along.
