This may be our best defensive class in a long time, and everybody knows that defense wins championships. Trevor Robinson is the first OL that Charlie offered way back when, and he made a lot of trips to SB before commiting to Neb because it was too far to SB for his family. So he liked us all along and no doubt as he sees our class fill up with studs he and his family have had a change of heart. Wheter or not he actually comes to ND who knows. Some people are saying that they'd rather have Patchan or Page because they can play tackle and Robinson is projected at guard. The other question is how many OL will Charlie take in this class. He's already got 3 guys who are all either C or OG, no tackles. It'd be hard to turn down Page or Patchan, or Art Brown if they wanted to come.
McCarthy <r>McCarthy, YES, another fine 4star defensive recruit for the Irish. Keep em comin CW and CB!!! What a great class!!! <E></E></r>
Filer <r>George,<br/> <br/> It is beginning to look very good for ND on Filer but......I've learned never to count them in until it's official...Let's hope so though. Wouldn't he be a great addition to an already great Defensive haul in this class?!<br/> <br/> <E>8)</E></r>
Filer <r>Well the speculation is over FILER is Irish!!! #19 of a totally awesome class!! <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E></E> <E>8)</E></r>
That's incredible, another Corwin Brown success....damn if that guy can coach as well as he can recruit we are in for a defensive rebirth!!! We still need another OL, a RB, and we need a WR ..but we may be waiting awhile for those guys. The remaining targets all seem to be guys who are going to wait till after the season to commit. Terry
recruiting <r>Terry,<br/> <br/> I'm fairly certain the Irish will get that OL, RB and WR they need to complete this class and hopefully a couple more players to compliment them. <br/> <br/> This has definitely taken one worry I had out of this season and that was how would recruiting go after the way last season ended. Obviously it has exceeded my best hopes and its not over. <br/> <br/> If ND is able to put 8 wins on the board this year then we will be in great shape for the future. <E>8)</E></r>
Filer is the highest rated LB we have had commit in awhile, but might be a little early to compare him to Dick Butkus. Grant Irons and the kid from the West Coast (Mater Dei or Amat) who was USA Today player of the year on defense...can't remember his name. Both had good not great careers at ND.
There are no sure things in recruiting, however, not long ago Blue Gray sky ran a survey of great players. Almost all were highly ranked and very few were lower ranked surprises. I think Steve Entmen, a franshise from the get go was a One Star for the Huskies. I don't think that this year will be much of a guage of things to come. One thing for certain, Corwin Brown is a magnet for high profile defensive recruits. Success is the product of Material times Coaching. If either is subpar the result is apparent. If one is superior and the other is better than average, the result can be outstanding. If both are top grade, success is guaranteed. .
The..... <t>Great news continues for CW and company. Filer was the cherry on top for me of this class as he was the guy I wanted from the day I read about him last year. Amazing class of prospects. If they land the Minny receiver and another OL prospect how can they not have the top rated class in the nation? Getting the beef up front on the DL is the key to the class.<br/> <br/> Go Charlie Go !!</t>
