Irish added another player yesterday in Texas DE Grant Blankenship. He's got a good offer list and is a 3 star player. Sean Mele the ISD talent eval say's he has a tremendous upside. Welcome Grant!
re: Grant Blankenship This kid looks good to me. I have great faith in Kelly and Diaco. Their track record for finding/judging talent speaks for itself. Here's Blankenship last year. He's a real DE. He knows and maintains his assignments. He's tall and he can run too. He's yet ANOTHER one of those kids who also plays TE and he can catch too. Kelly had made a living off of those tall, fast kids with ball skills. Down the road this kid could end up as a DE, TE, OT or outside LB as needed... <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/719vHuoMHGw?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0"></iframe> I also like this. Listen to the video. It's filmed by his fanatic mother. It's his very first play as a 9th grader (freshman) and he scores a TD. Mothers like this rule the world through their children. Blankenship (and his mom) is a welcome addition to the Fighting Irish! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=IAvwyTkNj3E
Blankenship <t>LOL. Love those football Moms. Reminds me of when Brian was playing. His Mom could get really excited at times! Fun stuff. looks like he been a bigun for a while! Good size and speed now. I like him.</t>
I don't remember much about Byron Spruell, he was one of Gerry's (Faust) kids. I looked him up and he lettered 4 years and was co-captain in his Sr. Year (1987). He graduated with a degree in Engineering (Mechanical) and a MBA from ND as well. WOW...that takes some focus to get an engineering degree and play football at a major D1 school. Anyway he was just named a VP of Deloitte. Great Story. As I said I don't really remember him, but what a great career both as a student/athlete and now post football success. Byron Spruell
Spurrier taking shots at the Irish at the SEC coaches meeting. The 'Ol Ball Coach has never gotten over that Sugar Bowl thumping. He is Ahab. The Irish are the white whale.

Spurrier said the Irish should join the ACC full time in football or it's not fair. ....wah, wah, wah.
Pretty cool special effects on the second highlight video above, with the black & white picture and Holmes isolated in color. Spurrier.....the mouth of the south. It he's talkin' about us, we must be relevant.
Nice highlights. Holmes looks like he has very good hands. What high school football team has pink jerseys? We seem to get some great kids out of Aquinas down in Fla.
Holmes <t>The Holmes kid is a nice get for the Irish. Looks like the real deal. Nice speed too for a WR, listed at 4.4.</t>
Sounds like Mr. Spurrier needs a history lesson! Hey, that's my cue! <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/-Dnua_ZAJ3U?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0"></iframe>
