    Hendrix

<t>I really believe we'll see a lot of Hendrix this season and Zaire will get a little playing time also. If Hendrix gets to looking comfortable and does well we'll probably see a lot more of him as the season progresses. I think Hendrix gives us a lot of the things that Golson did as far as extending some plays. Tommy is just not able to do that.</t>

My son was there. He attends the outing every year. I haven't had a chance to talk to him about it. We'll get together this weekend, and he'll fill me in on the day and his time with his pals Lou, Ara, and Coach Kelly.

speaking of summer time at ND, Carson is up there for camp. I'll be relying on his mother for more pictures. I'm really interested to hear his account of how this has gone.

    re: Carson O'Connor

He's at the Notre Dame football camp. I understand that this royally frosted the flakes of many Alabama/Auburn coaches. Gosh! Why would anyone prefer Notre Dame?

I haven't been following this one, but looking him up, he's obviously a good one. Mater Dei casts a wide net in it's talent search and he lives in Laguna Beach, which is actually not too far from the school, which is in Santa Ana. Pro scouting sites rate him a 9/10. My best guess is that he'll go to college first, then get drafted. Kids like him usually wind up at Stanford/UCLA/USC etc.

LOL Alabama has already offered a kid in Carson's class. That's just ridiculous. I wouldn't be shocked if he winds up at a Tide camp in the future, nor would I be against it. Unlike the locals who have mocked, teased and belittled my son for choosing to go to the ND camp.. and that's just his family, the football coaches are even worse, I'm good with whatever he chooses. People have a hard time realizing this, but this was his decision. I had zero input into the decision at all. I honestly thought he'd follow his classmates to Tuscaloosa. If I would have a chance to say something, I would have sent him to Vanderbilt but they don't have a camp for kids his age. It's all little guys or high school kids.

    Terry,

He's at the ND developmental camp. He got put into a group of kids that are older because they thought he was older. Turns out they were surprised to find out he's 13 and just finished the 7th grade. (for reference, Carson is the same size as the kid that Texas and Alabama offered) He's not small.

    Tim,

That was a nice article, but I think the writer might be a little optimistic about some of the depth at tailback :) It was a good write up for Rees though.

I didn't think the ND camp was something on the table and we were looking locally mostly. When it looked like we were going to have to send him a little further away, we just decided to ask him what he wanted. Notre Dame was his answer. There was no second choice. I've never pushed the Irish on him. It's something he's always chosen on his own. It's like the Dodgers. You'd think that with the Braves and so little Dodger info out here that he'd bend, but nope, he's a Dodger dog.

It is? I know I'm under a Papal Bull not to mention the "F" word, but I didn't realize that I'm banned from talking about the entire SEC too! OK, that's fine. I always liked the "T" team and one of the "A" teams too, but now I'll just read Corey for opinions on how they're all doing...

Nah, I'm just kidding. You said a while back that you or your friends never talked about Alabama football.

    Tim,

Oh I am, thank you. I'm actually proud of him for things that would probably surprise you guys. Well, actually, you were all great dads too so probably not. So long as he does his best, gives his all and enjoys himself, that's all I can really ask for with anything he does. That kid has overcome and endured a lot more than a child his age should ever have to deal with. He's a great kid. I finally got to talk to him today, briefly. His version of events was something I was eagerly anticipating and sure enough, it did not disappoint. I should probably do a mass email to cover it all since some information isn't for public consumption. That stuff aside, there were 2 interesting revelations from his version of events that I found interesting and one funny. First, he spent a considerable amount of time with Bob Diaco the last 2 days in drills during the defensive segments. The boy really liked him a lot. He told me that 'Coach had a way of telling you that you were wrong, teaching you the right way, but praising you all at the same time and it just fired you up!' They put Carson with a group of older kids because they thought he was 2 to 3 years older than he is. 2 things they had a hard time believing. One was that he was 13 years old, the other was that he had never played TE before that camp. The 2nd funny/interesting item was the brief conversation he had with Brian Kelly. I've long held that Carson is playing out of position here locally. I understand that it's something that the team needs badly, so he does what the team needs. Basically, when Carson told Coach Kelly what he played and what he wanted to play, Kelly basically mirrored everything I've been saying for years... So either I need to stop bad mouthing Kelly as a boob, or we're the only 2 mad geniuses who see the world outside the box. ;)
