    Bobda,

Symbolically, even the folks at the Butt Hut would not recognize my name....which probably is a good thing.

Just thought I'd throw this in, the Texas Govenors race is interesting in that Rick Perry is running against a previously very popular Rep U.S. Senator in Kay Bailey Hutchinson. I think she set some sort of record for votes in her last election, or maybe it was margin of victory, I forget.

But interestingly she is trailing Rick Perry and most people thought that when she was contemplating running for Gov that if she did she would swamp Perry. Who has been, not an unpopular Gov but also not a beloved figure in the state. Many figured he was ripe, and that Kay would take him down easily. That it is not turning out that way to me is interesting. I think this is another case of Obama killing national office holders. I think there is a feeling greater than usual that if you are in Washington you are a special interest pawn and don't care about the people. I think Kay is experiencing that and is going to be handily defeated by Perry. Very Suprising.

What will be interesting is in the general election Perry will face former Houston Mayor Bill White who was in the Clinton administration and was a decent (IMHO) mayor for Houston. I can't see him beating Perry but even though he was once a part of the Washington establishiment that was long ago enough he can run as an outsider and not be affected by the current anti-Washington sentiment.

    Very odd November coming up!

I am a lifelong fan of JCM and have seen his shows eight times. But he is so far left that he equates Obama with Barry Goldwater.

I doubt it. My guess is 85% of the loyal Butt Hutt patrons are fiscal conservatives from Michigan or formerly from Michigan seeking to avoid oppressive six taxes imposed by those who hate the idea that somewhere there is someone doing something unhealthy.

I am waiting for Granholm to put a $3 tax on Big Macs. That might really piss off some folks who post here.

If the BAPP were baked in Michigan rather than Texas, Michigan puchasers would be forced by state law to have an EKG after eating a slice and pay a 15% tax.

You ever wonder why someone like Evan Bayh, a virtual lead pipe cinch to win any election he entered, would get out now while he is so popular and a member of the majority party?

    We've had some theories
    1. Why spend all or a good portion of your campaign chest on what obviously will be an election fight with a well funded opponent.
    2. By the time the smoke clears in November his party will no longer be in the majority.
    3. He's homesick and want to leave DC for the governor's mansion in Indy.
    4. He's awaiting further instructions from Sid.

George....you must not have much time to read some of the posts I have made about Bayh.

His speech the other day when he made his announcement said it all.....he is tired of the extremist, partisan crap from both sides of the aisle that gets in the way of effective government.

I am now a huge fan of Evan Bayh.

Gip, George, you guys flatter me. Actually, he called earlier today and asked me how to handle his interview with Wolf Blitzer at CNN. I told him to speak assertively and don't let Wolf interrupt him in mid sentence like he does in all his interviews. Evan took my advice and sounded great in the interview.

If he asks me to form a campaign team for the governor's race, I'm going to ask Gip to be our chief counsel and George to be our head of security.
