    Well Tom, if we were to have a vacancy I think Kelly might well be our number one target. :)

    But I've seen a number of Notre Dame fans that seem to not like Meyer that much so I was wondering what preference the Skybox Irish might have. :)

    I couldn't agree with you more Terry.

    Hey Notre Dame is making a nice comeback in the 4th quarter.

    Another thing, you can say that Finally the Tyrone Willingham era is over...

    The media, esp black members of the media, never got over ND firing Willingham after his 3rd year and were incensed that Weis got an extension after 5 games. They never stopped pointing out the 1) Weis was winning with Willingham players in 2005/2006 when he had Quinn/Samarzdja and then in 2007 they kept pointing out that Weis overall record was becoming closer and closer to Willinghams.

    Maybe now they'll be over it.

    Turns out they were correct.

    TW was a horrible coach and recruiter. Weis is a good recruiter and a misplaced coach. He simply lacks the qualities of a good HC and is miscast in the role. He is an OC and that's it.

    Of course Samarzdja didn't get to play for TW.
    Unlike ND UW gave him a full 5 yrs. And the result 0-12. They didnn't have the guts to cut their losses and paid the full price.

    If Charlie goes back to being an OC, he's going to be the richest one in the history of the game. :)

    I'll bet Belichick takes him back immediately. He hasn't won a Super Bowl since Weis left.

    <r>Yes, Urban Meyer needs to stay right where he is. NO, we don't need Jon Gruden or any other NFL coach. ND needs to get this right this time. The best candidate is in Cincy. <br/>
    <br/>
    Now we go through months of recruits de-comitting, players transferring, and the clueless media taking advantage of every moment to blast ND and tell us why things will never get any better at ND. I hope some of the idiot ND fans who were wishing for this to happen are satisfied now. It won't be pretty no matter who the new coach is. If Weis decides to go quietly is will help but the way our luck has been going I'm betting he puts up a fight and makes it worse. Happy holidays again ND fans!<br/>
    <br/>
    Now we will go through another 3 or 4 years of program rebuilding.....Sometimes I wish I could just forget ND but 40 yrs of being a fan just won't let me do that no matter how bad it gets. <br/>
    <br/>
    So here we go again ND, make the right choices and do the right things this time....Please. Maybe before I'm an old man I'll see a real return to glory, maybe <E>:cry:</E></r>

    Tim, I agree with your post. I hope Kelly is willing to put up with all the crap that goes along with being HC at ND. I also hope he can make that step up to a once top program.
    He has some personality problems from what I've heard. Then again all coaches can't be bubbling, entertaining spellbinders like Nick Saban. :)

    Here's something I want to say to Notre Dame fans.

    First I am not going to do any of the things Tim mentions above. I hope I do nothing to make you guys life more miserable over the next couple of months while this gets sorted out. As long as Meyer stays at Florida I will be on your side finding a new coach.

    Tim, I don't thinks are as bleak as you think as far as the future. As George says Charlie was a good recruiter. In fact a very good recruiter so the new coach should have a good base to build on. You may lose a few commitments this year but after several good recruiting classes and if you get the right coach one class will not kill you.

    Both Spurrier and Meyer showed at Florida what the right coach can do when taking over a program if a base of good players are there.

    I think there is a crop of good coaches out there right now beginning with Brian Kelly. I would bet he would jump at the chance to go to Notre Dame.

    As far as the media this current crop pretty well sucks. They may have always but I didn't see it. But who gives a #$!#$! what they think?

    Good luck.

    And Jeanne and Cheri' say good luck also. :)

    Tim, if Notre Dame decides, or Charlie decides to part company I am fairly confident things will happen quick and this time for the better. The only advice I might give is that if Notre Dame would pick for instance Gruden, then get behind him and move on.

    Like I said, good luck.

    <r>Well it looks like Swarbrick has started off on the right foot with this thing. If you believe the media he says money will no be a factor in whether to let CW go or not AND he will not make that decision until the season is over. Both points are good as far as I'm concerned and stop a lot of questions about both. Really all CW has to do not is keep quiet unless he wants to announce right away that he will not be back. <E>8)</E></r>
