ahhh yeah, that'll do it. I noticed that a lot of organizations are offering promotions and cut prices to keep families coming to the park. It appears the BoSox aren't one of them.. although I thought they were.. hrmm I'll look that up later.

    $5 beer?

Hell, they're almost giving away 50 cents worth of beer for free!

    re: Boston

I'm beginning to wonder about the Red Sox and how they're running that franchise. They had all those problems with Nomar Garciaparra and he did fine here. Then they "dumped" Carl Crawford on us this year and laughed him out of town. He went into tonight batting .461 and he looks great in leftfield. If they have any more like those guys to get rid of, we'll take them gladly...

With Nomar, I think that was best for both. Nomar was the cornerstone at SS, but his defense and OBP had gone down. He actually went to the Cubs from the Sox.. and then onto LA. I think he played 1b in LA. The truth is, he couldn't crack the Red Sox lineup anymore. I think that was a win win for everyone. Nomar seems like a good guy. He was able to go back home, make baseball fun again. The year the Sox got rid of Nomar, they won the World Series. It's pretty hard to question the move. They stopped the idol worship that has plagued them and built a great team.

sidenote: Nomar comes from one of Mexico's most famous sports families and he's had 2 kids with Mia Hamm (his wife).. how crazy is the AAU/travel ball bidding war going to be for the services of those children in CA? ;)

IMO, Nomar's greatest accomplishment was marrying Mia Hamm.

Oh, by the way, he was a pretty fair ballplayer.

I think we are going to be in a neck and neck battle all year with the Cubbies for that last spot, AJ. If Braun can find a new PED source now that his Miami supply has dried up, we can battle the Pirates for 3rd.

Tigers setting records. 21 Detroit hitters whiffed last night, 37 in the past 2 games a team record. Oh yeah, they won both games.

Astro's set a record for strike outs in a 3 game series vs the Rangers. Of course we have a reason, we're an average AAA team playing in MLb. :)

Hey Doc, I don't know if you've been paying attention, but them thar Cards are playing some pretty good baseball. Wainwright is off to a 4-1 start, and has only given up one walk on the season. In a 9-1 shellacking of the Bucs in St. Louie, Carlos Beltran (remember him?) hit dingers from both sides of the plate....the power of a switch hitter, I love it.

My golf buddy who is a Cards fan told me we lost our ace for the season and are going to lose the closer. Do we have enough pitching to overcome that? He's not a big Holiday fan either wants the hot shot in the minors to come up next month. Said the only reason he's down there now is a money move by the club.

Terry, if your buddy is talking about Chris Carpenter, his days as an ace are behind him.
