Irish are offically in the crapper. This season has really gone south, we were overated to start the season and we do play a tough schedule, but even reasonable lowered expectations did not have us with the current losing streak. Unlikely that we will make the NCAA's now, and have quite a bit of work to do just to make the NIT. Very disappointing season. Mike Brey is going to have to take a long introspective look at the team and his coaching.

Irish BBallers took Louisville to the woodshed tonight in South Bend. I was hoping we wouldn't get beat too bad on the heels of the embarassment out at UCLA. But they just killed Louisville tonight. Hopefully it's the start of a run at the end of the season. They'll need to finish very strong and win a couple of BE Tourney games to make it to the post-season.

But Congrats to them...everything that had been going wrong in the streak finally went right all in one game.

The Illini just managed to beat Northwestern in Evanston last night. In fact with just 2 seconds on the clock. A Wildcat win would have enhanced our position in the conference race. Toughie coming up in Madison Saturday night. We always seem to struggle in the Kohl Arena.

And then there were three. Georgia just upset Florida to win their first SEC game!

South Carolina may have gotten away with one today. Mike Holmes appeared to make the game winning tip back with the ball slightly on the rim. It was so close that you would have to use replay to make the call but the rule in college is that no play can be overturned on the replay except to say if the shot beat the clock or not. It did, USC wins 75-73.

Ohio State lost to the Badgers 55-50 last night at the Kohl Center. We shot 56% but Wisconsin managed 30 more shots from the field. We lost the game on the boards and some nasty turnovers.

Like Tom said the Gators lost to Georgia, 88 - 86. Georgia shot lights out from the field. However that was their first SEC victory. This was the time the Gators collapsed last year so it's an important time for the Gators if we want to get into the NCAA. Six SEC games left with LSU, Tennessee and Kentucky being three of them.

After winning two NCAA tournaments in 2006 and 2007 many Gator fans now feel entitled and free to criticize the team, the coach and individual players.

I would love to see some of them on the field against Georgia and see how they would do.

The Aubrey Coleman incident has had a polarizing effect on the Arizona team. Including their comeback overtime win against Houston the Cats have won seven straight games, moving up from 9th place in the conference standings to 5th, 1/2 game back of three teams tied for 2nd.

    Rick,

Your team is really hot at the moment! Some nice wins in there to say the least.

I find it hard to believe that Georgia scored 10 points more t the half than they did the entire game against Tennessee. However, part of the equation could be the fact that Tennessee's defense is coming together right now. They had a season high in steals and otherwise forced turnovers against Vandy yesterday. There was one point in the second half that Tennessee scored nine points with the ball never leaving our end of the court. It was not because we were fouling them and they were not getting the calls. They got the calls all night. Vandy was in the double bonus and only had 3 fouls against them with four minutes left in the game

Hard to imagine why UGA isn't a better program than they are, I would think they are in a good position recruiting wise. Tubby Smith had them doing pretty well before he left for Kentucky.

Last year Georgia did not have a good regular season then won the SEC tournament. Only to lose in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

This year they have been horrible until yesterday.

Thanks, T. The Cats have found a rythm, but they still need to finish the season strong to make the tourney. They have a big three-game road trip coming up and will probably be favored in only one game.

Tried to post this yesterday to Don and Terry, but was in an airport and kept losing connection...gave up after typing it for the third time.

Wiscy loss was tough for the Bucks...shouldn't have happened in my opinion. Mullins had a terrible game...I don't always like Dicky V. but he was spot on in saying that BJ should stay in school and is not ready to jump...he looked absolutely lost in there. PJ Hill had a marvelous game...needs to play more. Turner was great all day...until that stupid turnover at the end.

Purdue got a nice win on the road over Iowa...lots of good defense on both sides (and bricked threes)...Calasan should be benched every time he takes a three...worse thing was the announcer's kept saying "he can hit that shot!)...No, he can't.

Big game tomorrow night...Purdue/MSU in W. Lafayette...on ESPN...

I think we lose because we are too beat up right now...Hummell is hurting and rusty and not even able to practice...Kramer seems to have adjusted to his mask ok but I think it bothers him a little bit shooting...he is less aggressive taking shots...fortunately he is not a big part of our scoring offense. Juan Johnson is playing very well right now, but Etwan Moore is in a bit of a slump. Lewis Jackson still seems to be recovering from the elbow that knocked him into Oz in our Wisconsin game.

But we should be able to put together an entertaining game.

Bill, if there were any more lizards in your avatar and signature we'd hafta call in King Kong to take on Godzilla.
