South Carolina defeated Vandy tonight 86-76. We are now 16-4 on the season and 4-2 in SEC play. I must say, no matter how the season turns out. This was more than I expected out of this team with a new head coach and lack of depth.

    Georgia fires Felton.

Way to go Billy, leave your #1 guy in to get his triple-double and RUTS ........ and look what happens !!

If only UM could do that to Mark Richt!!

South Carolina is starting to get a lot of love on ESPN after beating Kentucky at Rupp Arena on Saturday afternoon.

I saw a report that Bobby Knight is interested in the Georgia job and that if offered he would take it. I'm not a big Knight fan, I aknowledge he's a great coach and all that, but I don't know why Georgia would be interested in a 68 year old coach who's best days are long ago and who could just as easily quit on you after a couple of years if he wasn't dominating the SEC.

That was a big shocker Don, also it seems as nobody wants to be #1, Duke was #1, then upset by Wake who was subsequently upset by GTech now UConn is likely #1 and with the tough Big East schedule they won't last long.

Great win by USCarolina, congrats. After the loss to USC and then the blow-out loss the UTenn, I'm worried we in Gville are facing a "deja vu all over again" scenario for UF men's BB. And, we have USCaro coming to town on Tuesday. Big game for Billy D and his/our Gator team.

With this slate of games over the next 48-72 hours

    February 3 (Tuesday)
*Mississippi State at Kentucky [Raycom] 7:00 p.m. ET
*South Carolina at Florida [ESPN] 9:00 p.m. ET

    February 4 (Wednesday)
*Tennessee at Arkansas [Raycom] 7:00 p.m. CT
*Auburn at Ole Miss 7:00 p.m. CT
*LSU at Georgia 7:30 p.m. ET

the SEC east lead could be a little clearer ..... or not!!

I was listening to rivals radio on sirius on the way to work this morning and they said the SEC would be lucky to get 5 teams in the tourney this year, but they will get 4 for sure. All 4 from the East.. OUCH

UF is 5-2 in conference with the following schedule remaining

Feb. 3 *South Carolina [ESPN] GAINESVILLE 9:00 p.m.
Feb. 10 *at Kentucky [ESPN] Lexington, Ky. 9:00 p.m.
Feb. 14 *at Georgia [ABC] Athens, Ga. 3:30 p.m.
    Feb. 18 *Alabama [SUN#] GAINESVILLE 7:00 p.m.
    Feb. 21 *Vanderbilt [Raycom] GAINESVILLE 3:00 p.m.
Feb. 24 *at LSU [ESPN] Baton Rouge, La. 9:00 p.m.
    Mar. 1 *Tennessee [CBS] GAINESVILLE 2:00 p.m.
Mar. 4 *at Mississippi State [Raycom] Starkville, Miss. 8:00 p.m.
    Mar. 7 *Kentucky [CBS] GAINESVILLE 2:00 p.m.

I think to get into the NCAA tourney, UF must get 10-11 wins in conference ... which means it must go at least 5-4 over the balance of the season. Looking at the schedule, there are two games about which I feel good - @ UGa and Vandy in Gville - and then maybe bama. That leaves 2 - 3 wins out of the remainder. Not saying tonight against USC is a must win but ... it's about as close as you can get to a must win.

Tennessee's biggest opportunity for improvement is to get the team to gel. We are very young but very talented. When they do gel and start playing better as a team, they will be a force. Hopefully that will happen leading up to the tourney and they will peak at the right time.

Buckeyes get by Purdue in OT last night. Hummel, did not play for the Boilers due to a small stress fracture in his back.

Minnesota up next Saturday evening here in Columbus.

New guy at Purdue seems to have gotten the Boilermakers back on track as one of the top B10 teams.

Fla-SC was a great game to watch last night.

Very entertaining with a whole lot of highlight plays.

SC is a scrappy bunch that will be a tough out in the NCAAs.

Matt Painter. They are a young team. His in-state recruiting has been gangbusters. He's building toward a consistently top level program. Crean (IU) seems to be working more on out-of-state recruits, but between the two coaches, the cream of Indiana HS players should have excellent opportunities at both programs in future years.

Was a good game for the Buckeyes, Terry...

We suffer playing against big talented lineups...we never seem to be able to recruit the big talented guys.

Having Robbie Hummel on the bench hurt both our rebounding and point production. I heard it's not just back spasms, but a stress fx of a vertebrae...they say he can play, but without prolonged rest it's going to hurt his effectiveness the rest of the season.

Buckeyes nearly doubled the shooting % that we've been holding other teams to.

Then there was that swallowed whistle at the end of regulation.
