Believe it or not it's been 7 years, I think, since we had 20 wins...we had 24 in 1999-2000 and we had two years with 19 wins in 2001-2002 and 2002-2003.

I believe we have better than just an outside shot...but we are clearly on the bubble...

Only once has a B10 team not made it in with the magic 20 wins...however this year there are a lot of good mid-majors and a lot of 20 win teams.

I'm not sure if Iowa beating Illinois helped us or not...I think Illinois is in but we might be in competition with Iowa.

However we get a shot at them on a neutral floor, so we only have ourselves to blame...I say we are in if we beat Iowa and out if we don't.

Bill it took some research but the 7 straight wins came between 1936 and 1942. So next year you guys can go for the all-time record!! :)

I was shocked to read that stat, and I'm not surprised that it happened pre-WW II. Although ND had some outstanding teams in the post-war years up to the late 50s, so did Kentucky. I still am amazed that we beat them 7 years in a row.

#7 could be this next Sunday .... IF ...... UK and UF can fight their way into the SEC tourney final. Big IF .... considering UK must get past Alabama the, in all likelihood, Vandy ..... while UF will face winner of UGa-Auburn then (probably) UT.

Gaterz, where did you see the brackets for the SEC?

I didn't think we would be able to meed Tennessee until the final. Were they seeded 2nd or 3rd?

    Thanks

Thanks Gaterz, I thought Tennessee got the 2nd seed and Vandy got it instead.

I was hoping not to have to play Tennessee until the finals. But maybe that's a good thing, we'll see if the Gators are ready to play, if we get by our first game of course.

What'd you guys think about the finish to the Duke/UNC game. That Duke guy clobbered the UNC guy.

After the game Coach K said it was unintentional and wondered why Hansbrough was still in the game at that point. Duke kid got a 1 game suspensioin, UNC kid got a broken nose. It looked to me that he went at the UNC kid to foul him hard but probably didn't intend to break his nose. 1 game suspension seems about right.

From watching the replay it's easy to see that the Duke player went up expecting to really put a lick on the ball as Hansbrough brought it up for the shot.
Problem was, the ball never came up, and the guy was kinda just hanging there already in the motion of going for a hard foul.

I don't think he had any intentions of using his elbow on the other player. I think the ejection was probably correct because he was obviously going for a hard foul when things went wrong...
