Are the Gators going to go with a traditional TB next year or do you still think that Percy will be the main RB along with Tebow? I thought I read someplace that Emanuel Moody is struggling a little with the offense, is that true? Terry
I think there is some truth to the Moody comment Terry. However I have been reading the last week or so that he has been better this past week. I don't think Harvin will be the main thrust at running back next season and he is out right now to have an operation on his heel. However there are several other people at RB who look to contribute. Mon Williams was out last season with a knee injury and he is expected to contribute this season. Kestan Moore is coming back, if he could overcome his fumbling he could really contribute. Brandan James who runs back kicks is getting more action at RB in the spring. Then there is Chris Rainy who only weighed 155 when he come in last year and is pressing 180 now. He was an outstanding running back in high school. He gained over 300 yards in several playoff games during his senior season when his team won the state championship. He redshirted last season after having shoulder surgery. Between all those guys and Havin mixed in we should have the best running back situation since Urban Meyer has been at Florida. I think how far we go next season will be decided by our defense who was dominated by Freshmen last season. I've read various analysis as to how they are doing. I expect they will be better as it would be hard to give up more yardage. I think our defensive backs will not give the room they did last season.
Don't know if this is true or not, Maybe one of the Gator fans here can confirm it? I read where Coach Urban Mayer has the video of Georgia celebrating the TD running on screen over and over again in weight room? If it is true, It's just like I thought, The Dawgs really are in their head right now. Times have changed. Boy Coach Mark Richt is brilliant.
Georgia may be in the Gators' heads a bit but there is something that I can't figure out here. Philip Fulmer has never been known as the type of coach that other coaches just can't beat or that "gets in other coaches' heads" yet it sure seems like he's in Mark Richt's after the last two thrashings the Vols have put on more highly rated Bulldog teams. It's quite interesting to me that Georgia can't beat Tennessee. I know they played considerably better as the season progressed last season but the score remains, 35-14. I just think it's kind of odd so I take all of this Georgia national championship talk with a grain of salt. The schedule is even tougher for them this year and I think they could easily have 3 losses along the way. IMO, and it sucks to admit this, but I think the Gators are the team to beat. I think the Vols and Dawgs will battle for second with USC just a step behind. It's going to be a great race again though with nobody coming up perfect.
I have no idea if that is true about running the video in the weight room is true or not. If so he's using it as motivation and I hardly see how that means that Dawgs are really in the Gators head. A couple of comments, first Meyer used a lot of negative comments about the Gator chances against Ohio State a year ago. You could have said they were in our heads too, but we know the result. Secondly if you think that two wins against the Gators makes Richt brilliant then you have a different standard for brilliant than I do. Thirdly, if you want to know who's in who's head, it appears to me the Gators are in your head as you are looking so hard for something to tell us how the Dawgs are better than the Gators. I'll give you this, Georgia's 2 wins in the 2000's has already doubled the number of wins in the 90's against the Gators. That's progress.
It's a "what have you done for me lately world", my friend. I'm not saying that Fulmer's overall record is better but what I do know is that the last two seasons the Vols have made the Dawgs look like pups and I think both times that the Dawgs probably had the more talented team. I personally think Stafford is overrated. That Dawg line would concern me if I were you. I know they improved over the course of last season but Tennessee took 'em to the shed last year with an average to good D-line. I'm just not buying the Georgia hype.
I posted that before I saw your last comment. I just think the race for the East is going to be ultra-competitive this fall with the Gators, Dawgs, and Vols all right there again.
Tailback, the Big Pumpkin as you call him has won a National Championship. How many has Richt won? In fact here's a few questions including the one above! How many NC's has Richt won at Georgia? What's Richt's record against the Gators? What's Richts record against Ron Zook, who was fired because he couldn't beat Mississippi schools? After answering the above questions, how did Richt suddenly become brilliant and in the Gators heads? What makes you think Meyer can be psyched by Richt? Inquiring minds want to know!
TB, Which side of the fence are you going to fall when MR chalks up another loss. Up until his bone headed suggestion that his team break rules and charge the field, you could not stand the man. Afterwards, he is your idol? If you want criminals at Georgia, there were al lot worse than MR you could have had.
       Tom, seems TB has a negative view of the world. Your coach is the Pumpkin, our QB who won the only Heisman ever as a sophmore is a fullback. He doesn't like long hair on players and on and on and on. However now MR is brilliant because he won his 2nd game in 7 tries against the Gators. Go figure.
UT Tom, Yeah I know I've been down on Richt for quite some time. My belief was until he gave up that offense he had to go. We'll Richt gave the offense up to my liking and now UGA is running the ball much more. Plus he is finally coaching like he's one of the best. His call against the Gators was brilliant. As for the last 2 losses, I believe Richt has looked very bad just like you say. But as I've said, UGA has finally started to depend on the run and Bobo is coming around. Oh yeah lets give Fulmer credit, he did rehire Coach Cut. But lets give the credit to where the credit is due. Coach Cut had his way with UGA but he's at Duke now. We'll see what happens this year. AQ, I agree Stafford is over rated. That's why UGA must run the ball! Bobo say's Stafford has made a lot of progress. I'll believe it when I see it. Gator Bill, Is Richt in Meyers head? I don't know about that, but he's in the Gators head! His call was brilliant. MCG, UGA plays LSU the week before UF, That would worry me if the Gators had the week off, but they don't. So I don't see it as a big advantage to Fl just because you have Ky.
OK the Gators play a decimated by graduation Kentucky at home a week after taking a siesta and fully gameplanning for the Dawgs while the pups are fighting for their lives with LSU in Baton Rouge. Oh man....the paranoia that will go down with Dawg fans before this game will make your head swim...... TTom, great post and right on the money.....
Like I said Tailback, the Gators are in your head or you wouldn't be obsessing about this. 3 wins in 18 years and 2 wins this decade for the Dawgs against the Gators and you seriously think that the Dawgs are in our head. I have some ocean front property in Arizona that I would like to talk to you about!   You need to get serious about this in the head stuff.
