Burris is a borderline imbecile and a well known wife beater who just happened to be toting a gun in a crowded nightclub.

Does anyone know if he had a valid permit?

Matters not whether he did or not. I would think that he didn't. If he did, he did not learn anything from his training. Night clubs make more than 51% of their revenue from the sale and consumption of alcohol. Permit or not, you cannot carry in that kind of establishment. At that point, he becomes a criminal rather than a law abiding citizen.

It does matter. If he had one it would indicate to me that getting a permit is just not that difficult and even a gangsta like Burris can get one.

Sorry to let you down George, but that quote was from this article. Just a common criminal!

Why would I be let down, Tom?

    Here's another story:Wall Street Journal

He had a Florida permit but New York state would not honor it. If they had honored it, he wouldhave been, in your words, a common criminal carrying a legal weapon with a permit.

New York Giants star receiver Plaxico Burress is facing a mandatory 3½ years in prison and the end of his football career. His crime? Not having a license, which New York City never would have issued him, for the exercise of his constitutional right to bear arms.

His impending mandatory sentence highlights the unfairness and unconstitutionality of New York City's draconian gun laws.
