So given what Cindy bought and what you just got...I have to assume you have inside information that gas prices will be heading back down.
Nope... just decided you only live once! Plus, I don't drive that much since my office is the "second master" in my house. My commute is a 50 ft walk from my bed to my desk. I also have a 48 mpg Harley sitting in the garage... same color as the Challenger!
Very nice Tom! POWER TO THE OLD GUYS WITH BIG BLOCKS! Have I been "challenged" lately? Not really, but I choose my spots! My Z is very quick, but it's not a drag star. However, the next time you want to drop the hammer on some twisties in the Hill Country I'm there. You can have a nice look at my receding taillights!
Now I'm jealous! That looks like something that would have been at home in our old high school parking lot in 1968. That lot used to be filled with SS Malibus, GTOs and Plymouth Roadrunners. One of my classmates, Larry Flansburg, used to run his blown, 396 SS Malibu at the dragstrip in Pomona on weekends, then drive it to school during the week. He's the head of the Cole Ambulance Service now. I think you and your new power toy would have fit right in...
Nice car, Tom . I wish I could bring back my '66 GTO for a day. You and I would start brush fires burnin' up those Texas roads.
JO'Co, I would have fit in alright. When Cindy and I met, I was drag racing at Union Hill raceway in Nashville. Scott... I don't know about receding tail lights in the twisties. The 70's Challengers were pretty weak in the cornering capabilities. The SRT-8 is equipted with the "track pack" handling package. I am going to be in Tennessee in November. Tail of the Dragon is in this SRT-8's future. 8) Moving back to the Back Room.
I bought this car as a mid-life crisis car...24 years ago. Still have it. Picture is not my actual car, but essentially identical...even the color.
Both are great looking cars and make me jealous. Hey I don't see the necessity of moving this topic I see how antique cars for us antique guys are sports related.
Good catch, George...I noticed it pretty quickly. My 5.0 is a five speed...and that picture shows the standard shifter...but where the hell is the clutch???
Enjoy fighting for second you two. (All specs except lap times taken from Motor Trend tests.) Lightning lap times: '09 CTS-V - 3:04.0 '10 370Z Nismo - 3:12.0 (no base, but '07 350Z was 3:12.5, so should be in there, too) '09 Challenger SRT8 - 3:16.3 0-60: '09 CTS-V - 4.1s '11 Challenger SRT8 - 4.6s '09 370Z - 4.7s 1/4 mile: '09 CTS-V - 12.4 @ 117.1 (MT) '09 370Z - 12.6 @ 112.3 '11 Challenger SRT8 - 13.0 @ 111.3 skidpad: '09 370Z - 0.96g '09 CTS-V - 0.92g '11 Challenger SRT8 - 0.89g 60-0: '09 CTS-V - 105' (MT) '09 370Z - 106' '11 Challenger SRT8 - 117'
Hey, let's throw in: Which one AVERAGES 24MPG???? Notice I walloped you both on the skid-pad - thus my confidence in the "twisties"... 8) AND... let's not forget COST. Who got out under $35K? I DID, I DID! But Tom still got a Bad@ss ride!
