Thought I'd throw this in that former ND QB Malik Zaire still keeps coming up as going to the Gators. The Gators poor record with Grad Transfers the fly in the ointment but the thought is that the SEC will cut UF some slack or change the rule. Are you guys hearing this on UF boards?
Terry, the rumor is that if he wants to come to the Gators and the Gators want him that the SEC Commissioner will ok it. I am not sure the Gators want a Transfer QB at this point. I just read this is why the delay in answering.
Del Rio is suspect due to shoulder right... That leaves Felipe Franks who reported is a tremendous athlete but has issues with accuracy and Trask the kid from the Houston area who never started a game in High School. Seems like Malik might be a good acquistion for the Gators...but you never know.
I agree with what you are saying Terry. But if he expects to come in and get the number one job he may be disappointed. It looks like Franks is going to be number one. However if he is willing to be a backup then it might work, it sure did work for the Gators last year after DeRio was injured.
To tell you the truth Bill, Malik is a bit of an unknown. He really never played very much at ND. He played a lot in the bowl win over LSU and got everybody pretty excited, then he had a gonzo game vs Texas in the opener the next season. He wasn't having a great game vs UVA when he broke his leg and missed the rest of the year. He played only a little last year at ND and didn't do much, so we really only have a little bit of information on what he can do as a starter. When he was the starter I think he showed a lot of good leadership, last year some thought he was a distraction and sulked on the sidelines behind Kizer. I hope where ever he lands he gives it a good shot and wins the job and has a great year. We'll see though.
