I was speaking with a Michigan friend yesterday who is understandably miserable already this early in the season and I brought up again how mystifying it was for Harbaugh to hire an offensive coach who's offense was just plain offensive in two games vs. Harbaugh and the Wolverines. Found this good summary online of the craziness of the hire: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/david-whitley/os-sp-jim-mcelwain-michigan-david-whitley-0221-story.html#
The WRS while McElwain was at UF were part of the problem... although he did recruit a couple of good ones. The article mentions his smugness being like Harbaugh's. That was his downfall at UF and it could be Harbaugh's as well.
Like both of them. Collins looks like he will be a very good wide receiver. Woods will probably be an impact player playing a safety-linebacker hybrid position.
Woods has a cousin who had a 2,000+ yard rushing season. I think he finished something like 6th all time in 6A for Alabama single season. He wound up not going DI in football because everyone assumed he was going DI in baseball. That wound up not panning out and the coaching staff just dropped the ball with his recruiting. I think he played baseball at a JUCO last season. I'm not sure what he's up to this year, but he's a legit DI power back.
ESPN Game day did a segment this morning on what unit across the country they were worried about the most and Michigan's offense won the prize. Not surprising.
I was a big supporter of Mac until about midseason last year. Then I lost all interest in him and glad he is gone. I am sold on the guy we have now, Dan Mullen. Go Gators, beat Kentucky.
Tom.... the one thing a Vols fan can excited about this year is beating Florida. That hasn't been the case for so many of the last few years but it sure looks like Tenn will have a solid chance to lay one on the Gators this year.
Dave, Although we were playing a MAC team, our wide outs looked pretty good. Perhaps the experts at ESPN might shift their focus to Gainesville.
You're right Tom, it was too soon, but I had to give Dave some sh*t before he could start to smooth it over with some BS.
Corey I have always been a realist about Florida.... trying to go by what I see on the field.... and not just throwing out BS. If I think they show more than being given credit for I'll let you know it but when it's plain they have glaring deficiencies I'm the first to point that out too. This team has a long long way to go..... much further than what I thought. It's either that or Kentucky is off to a 10 win season..... which could be a possibility cause they dominated Florida Sat. night. I don't see UF winning enough games this season to make a bowl game.
Char Sou doesn't count.... so no wins so far. CSU may be a win.... Vandy on the road = iffy MSU and Tenn on the road..... probable losses Mizzou looks better than UF Certain losses to LSU and UGA with SC very tough even in the Swamp. A lousy FSU but in Tallahassee. Is Idaho FBS? I can see another 4-8 season being the expectation here.
Mullen did a good job team building at MSU, and I see the Gators are up in the top 20 recruiting right now...so a 4-8 first year doesn't really hurt that much with the new guy. He can fall back on the getting his guys thing and that there wasn't much talent left by the old staff as well. Year 2 though need some significant improvement. Something Texas fans are worried about with Tom Herman.
This slide away from the elite that we have been on keeps getting longer and longer. Could have maybe pulled out of it if Muschamp wasn't so damn dumb about the offense.
Did I see that a skill position player for Florida announced that he was transferring after the Kentucky game?
