Well here's hoping that Craig Biggio gets in this year. They had a big article on him in the Houston Chronicle over the weekend. Really good read, he comes to 3 ND football games a year to see his son's and basically attends all the ND baseball games watching Conor and Cavan play for the Irish. Randy Johnson is supposedly a lock as a 1st timer. Biggio only missed by 2 votes last year.
Congrats to new HOF member Craig Biggio..the First Astro in History to make the Hall. Good class, with the Big Unit, Pedro and Smoltz to go along with Biggio. Randy Johnson only played 1/2 season with the Astros but he was masterful and I think he didn't lose a game till the playoff series with San Diego..which we lost. Some people think that '98 Astros team was one of our best ever...we won 102 games and finished 16 games ahead of the Cardinals! But the series with the Padres was one of their pitching dominating the Astros and they won in 4 games.
If Pedro is in then Andy Pettitte should be a lock too, right? Same amouint of years played and 38 more wins, 256 to 218. Also has a hand full of WS rings and the best pickoff move any ever saw.
that god damned thing was a balk.... which is actually the finest compliment you can pay any left handed pitchers pick off move. I agree that Andy should be in.
 I see than Randy Johnson got 97.3% of the vote. My question is; what idiot left Randy Johnson off his HOF ballot? Most wins by left-handed pitchers: 1. Warren Spahn-365 2. Steve Carlton- 329 3. Eddie Plank- 326 4. Tom Glavine-305 5. Randy Johnson-303 6. Lefty Grove- 300 How many 6' 10" lefties with 99 MPH fastballs have there ever been?
Congratulations to all the new HOF players. Biggio was a good one and this is well deserved. As far as a sportswriter who left Randy Johnson off, he was probably sure Johnson was going in and gave the vote to someone else.
 I believe that each player who is voted in is given the option of choosing which team he will represent. As long as he played for a team he can choose it. I remember when Roger Clemens was bitter about his treatment by the Red Sox. He used to say that he would choose to go into the HOF as a Yankee. I guess he won't have to worry about it......eh?
Terry, the ND Baseball "Meet the Team" dinner is being held Monday, Jan. 26. The guest speaker is Craig Biggio. I'm tempted to drive up for it, but I probably won't. His election to the HOF should boost attendance.
Nolan Ryan went in as a Ranger even though he played for the Astros the longest of any place and he had great success as an Astro...but he was pretty bitter how our owner at the time treated him when it came time to do a new contract at the end of his Astro tenure. He treated him like he was some bum who had nothing left in the tank and didn't offer him squat. That's why he went to the Rangers and proved everybody wrong.
Ever Nolan Ryan didn't get 100% of the vote but he's close as were Tom Seaver, Cal Ripken, Ty Cobb, and George Brett.
