R-Maureen Walsh made a comment that has hard working nurses all over America in a pissed off tizzy when she made the typically elitist comment that nurses "sit around and play cards"..... My RN wife pointed it out to me today and she is pretty livid about it.... as is just about any nurse in America. Seems typical for just about any Republican to believe that they are the only ones who work hard for a living.... everyone else is looking for a handout. My wife says F. O. to that elite, self righteous and imaginary thinking....
she pissed off a lot of nurses with that. I had no idea I followed so many nurses on Facebook until today.
All Republican congress people can't be a brilliant as say AOC. Why don't we just use her as an example of how stupid all Democrats are.
I wonder what nurse is going to interrupt her card game to provide healthcare for Walsh should she become ill......
Yes Gipper that could well be true so a little more chillin is probably the best philosophy for us old folk. However.... the one inspiration ( probably the only one other than that "grabbing" thing lol ) that I get from Trump is that he is almost 73 years old and yet he is scheming, fuming and conniving to be re-elected and serve as President in his 70s. Well damn if that doesn't give me some hope at age 64!!
I went and read the full comment and got the context. 1) it's ill advised to make comments like this, you will pay for them will the outrage online. 2) it was made in a context of debating a bill that would have made rules for big hospitals and rural hospitals the same. A legitimate debate, whether her support of an exception for small hospitals is a good one or not I don't know. But it got lost in the "nurses playing cards" gaffe. As always in today's media/internet the whole thing gets blown out of proportion to the point where Dave is extrapolating that comment to be the general feeling of all republicans, I'd bet that Rep Walsh actually has a lot of respect for the job that nurses do on a daily basis, but one ill advised comment washes all that away. Washington state lawmaker's comments raise ire of nurses
Her politics is irrelevant. There's plenty of stupidity on both sides of the aisle. It was an inappropriate comment that is an affront to the unequaled dedication of the nursing profession. Just because, like most well-publicized gaffes, it was said in context with a broader discussion, it doesn't excuse the stupidity of the statement. The outrage raining down on her is well deserved. Once again, we hear from someone who doesn't understand the old adage, Think before you speak.
You see it every day on Twitter, someone of note makes a quick reaction to something, rather harshly, and then before thinking hit's enter....then after thinking deletes it...but it's the internet and it's never deleted and they pay for it in Twitter attacks, Media exposure of their gaffe, etc.
Terry I realize it's almost a 50-50 proposition but when my wife said "some woman senator" said it I said to my wife that you can bet your ass she's a Republican. Why was I so certain?
I don't know about you guys but our rural hospitals are slammed. The big hospital companies bought out several hospitals years ago and consolidated them all under Huntsville Hospital and then closed several of them. Now we have a crush of demand on our rural hospitals. This coming from someone who has had to make 8 emergency ER visits in the last 6 months. If I have to go to the ER now, I try to 'shop' which ER won't be totally buried in homeless, mentally unstable and the medically sick. Funny story, I found I could get seen faster by going to the larger hospital in the wealthier town (Madison) than I can any other hospital.
So she's going to shadow some nurses...as damage control. Sen. Maureen Walsh said she'd love to shadow a nurse, after saying some of them spend time playing cards
Good one Sid... lol She thought she was exhausted...... now she'll find out just how exhausted she can get.
A Democratic representative in Ill., Dianne Pappas speaking in support of an abortion up to birth bill made a comment about castrating men and taxing them to stop abortion. That's so typical. I knew she was a Democrat without even looking.
There's so many whack jobs in the Democratic Party that we're going to need a scorecard and numbers on their backs to keep track of them. My favorite is TOK's congresswoman. She actually believes that our country landed on Mars and not the Moon...
The Dems don't have a corner on the whack job market. There's an equal number of whack jobs in both parties.
