Borass offered an apology yesterday, but I really have to question his sincerity. As an agent his job is to get his client maximum exposure, and the timing of his announcement did just that. I'm sure he couldn't care less that he furthered his reputation as an ethics-challenged douchebag.
I don't blame Boras. I don't blame the players for squeezing every dime they can out of the game wherever they can get it. I don't blame the owners for anything they do to maximize their profits. Any of us, if we were worth a damn, would do exactly the same thing in their positions. I blame us, the fans. We subsidize this circus. Stop bitching fellas. The problem is right there in front of you when you shave in the morning.
Gosh, George, you're right. I've already shaved this morning, but after I read your post I ran to a mirror and looked at myself. I must admit I didn't like what I saw. I saw the face of a person who is responsible for how Scott Boras and Alex Rodriguez conduct themselves with total disregard for the integrity of the game. I saw the face of a person who is responsible for the bumbling arrogance of the Yankee ownership as they insulted the intelligence of baseball fandom in the way they dumped Joe Torre. I saw the face of a person who has been a fool for his love of a sport he grew up with and continues to follow with unwavering loyalty because it is interwoven into the fabric of his life. Woe is me. What to do? What to do? I know! I will stand up and be counted. I'll show them I have a backbone. I'll show them I can atone for the actions of Boras and Rodriguez and all the other self-centered, greedy b----rds for whom I am responsible. I will refuse to watch another baseball game for the next 5 months.
I just helped them out. Went to Dicks Sporting goods. Lines from hell at 9am! Bought a cap for 25.00 that probably cost a chinaman .99 to manufacture. Bought a Bolster worth 3.00 and paid 15.00! People were coming out with baskets loaded! and an 18 wheeler was unloading more crap! Programs were 15.00...in Feb the discounts shops will have them for 5.00. In 04 I bought 20..wrapped them in shrink wrap, and in 50 years I will be rich!! What a country! 2 hours to parade time..nationally on FOX I hear. jiffer
I see what George is saying <t>as well as Sid.<br/> <br/> We can't be responsible for how 2 adults conduct themselves, then again, we do endorse this behavior by allowing it.<br/> <br/> You allow it by buying into the EsPN group think that its all larger than life and that guys like Deion Sanders, as well as Keyshawn Johnson are good people worthy of your time...<br/> <br/> I think that this was a calculated stunt by Boras with someone on ESPN right now making excuses for him as I type this. It blew up in his face.<br/> <br/> All this move did do, was ensure there is NO WAY A-Rod could ever wind up in Boston. I dont think the fans would ever welcome him now after this stunt was pulled...thus losing some negotiating power in contract talks. He now doesn't have New York or Boston to use as leverage.. <br/> <br/> That hurts his client... thus the apology.</t>
For the record, I also see George's point clearly. I just felt like gigging him a bit, and once I started typing I couldn't stop. Slow day. Corey, I also agree that the stunt hurt his client's bargaining power with at least one club, probably others. Time....and spin.... will tell.
I know <r>I figured the fun would still be running its course. I was just bringing it back to the topic at the time of Boras' move blowing up horribly in his face.<br/> <br/> Sorry to be a wet towel <E></E><br/> <br/> I do contend that the Red Sox fans would never accept him, Theo has to know this. When that announcement was made, my phone blew up with all my Sox fan buddies who were livid.<br/> <br/> Boras' job is pushing the envelope to get the most for his clients. He went to far and it will cost him. Someone will probably shell out the money, but it wont be a realistic contender.. Right now he has to bank on LA or Chicago.. And he has lost two major bargaining chips in his corner.<br/> <br/> A-Rod's salary will cripple a mid-major market unless its one already loaded with incredibly young talent that is still a few years away from collecting big money. I just don't see this as being a good move for him if he is realistic about winning a title in his career.</r>
I'd never heard of Boras before the Astros had Carlos Beltran.... after that I knew he was the biggest asshole in the world of Agents and that's saying something.
there is no way in hell they will allow Payrod to be on this club. Every sign at the parade says NO AROD/ RESIGN LOWELL!
