Scottie Scheffler earned an $8 million bonus by finishing No. 1 on the Comcast Business Tour Top 10 for the 2024 PGA Tour's FedEx Cup regular season. It's the second No. 1 finish in three years for the 28-year-old World No. 1, who won six times on tour this season before capturing the gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Scheffler claims tour's $8M 'business' bonus ___________ Not a bad year $$$ wise for him.
quite a back 9 today. Matsuyama had a 5 stroke lead and then the wheels came off and he was 1 shot back of Hovland. But he righted the ship and finished birdie/birdie and got the win by 2 strokes over Hovland and Xander. Nick Dunlap had a great tournament and finished 3rd and Scottie was 4th. Scottie just couldn't take advantage of all the opportunities his iron play gave him but still a top 5 finish.
Ladies are at the Old Course for the Women's Open, while the men are at Castle Pines for the BMW. Great weekend of golf.
Adam Scott played lights out and has a 5 shot lead, I hope he can hold on and win. Scottie is pretty animated today, and only 13 shots back.
Bradley also had a great round except for 18, which was a mess. 3 back of Scott. Aberg shot 63 and is 4 back. That rough is US OPEN deep.
Wild day, Scottie is at the bottom, and Keegan and Adam Scott in spite of the struggles are 1,2 on the leader board.
Scheffler goes to East Lake still #1 and the favorite to win, but not many #1's have actually won it all. He certainly doesn't go in with a lot of confidence in his putting. He does start the tourney at -10 with a 2 shot lead over Xander. Schauffele has tended to be a fast starter this year so I expect that 2 shot lead won't last to the back 9 unless Scottie solves his putting woes. Name Starting strokes bet365 Implied probability Scottie Scheffler -10 +110 47.62% Xander Schauffele -8 +250 28.57% Hideki Matsuyama -7 +1000 9.09% Ludvig Aberg -5 +1600 5.88% Rory McIlroy (NI) -4 +2000 4.76% Collin Morikawa -4 +2500 3.85% Patrick Cantlay -4 +2500 3.85% Keegan Bradley -6 +2500 3.85% Sam Burns -4 +3000 3.23% Wyndham Clark -4 +3000 3.23% I'd like to see Scottie win it all but I won't be surprised if he doesn't finish in the top 10. I think Aberg has the game but not the experience to win this type of event, Hideki on the other hand has that experience and has played well lately. I am going out on a limb and saying Xander will win it all.
Was watching a golf channel show on the changes to East Lake, They have made a lot of them and the course is going to be tougher.
Well the course wasn't harder to play, these guys did just fine with all the changes. Scottie blitzed the back 9, shot 65 today and has a 7 shot lead after the 1st day. Xander couldn't find the fairway and that really hurt him. But the key was Scottie's putter was working today.
The Colin v Scottie show continues. Scheffler had the lead up to 7,but lost 3 strokes in the last 4 holes including a short put after a great recovery from a near OB.
Wow Scottie shanks a sand shot, and the chips way short while Colin makes birdie, he makes bogey. 7 shot lead is now 2 shots. Game on.
Scheffler wins, 30 under,4 shot win. That's a lot under par, so the remake of East Lake didn't make it harder. What a great year for Scottie.
I wish that they'd play this the weekend before collged football starts. Didn't get to watch any on Sat. and forgot to tune in yesterday.
I've never really liked the scoring of the final round of the playoffs. To me it's like when baseball gets to the WS that the team with the most wins gets to start 1-0 in the now 6 game series. FWIW if the Final was scored straight up Scheffler would have finished 3rd behind Morikawa and Theegala. On to the Presidents Cup and the Solheim Cup this month with the Ladies taking it first next week and the guys going to Montreal the last week of Sept.
Battle of tours scheduled for Dec. Bryson and Bruce vs Rory and Scottie. Site is Vegas. Might be interesting to watch.
Not a big shock that Keegan Bradley was a Captains pick for the Presidents Cup Team. I'm not sure it was the best pick, but everybody seemed to want him on the team based on how he finished the season. So it's up to him to prove me wrong!!
