Tom Kim was clutch when he had to be and we have a playoff. Sottie had his last 2 birdie putts come up a rotation short or he'd have won in regulation.

They did have some protestors (5) swarm the green and interrupt the final hole, they tossed some sort of powder on the green. I assume they were climate protestors.

Well Tom was not clutch on the playoff hole. Scottie hit it stiff and Tom pugged it in the bunker. I'm predicting Scottie wins!

I stopped playing golf in 2015 because of my wife's medical issues. When I played, I had wooden 5 and 7 woods that I loved and which generated much teasing from my playing partners. I eventually gave my clubs to my left-handed grandson, who's become a very good golfer at 17 and who didn't keep my "prized" 5 and 7 woods. He chose to replace them with updated clubs. I'm OK with that.

Tour at gipper's old stomping grounds, Detroit. I don't think he was a member but has played the Detroit Country Club.

Nice looking course, much different from Pinehurst, it's shorter, actually has rough and I didn't notice any big elevated greens with shaved sides.

There is a 15 y/o in the field. Good looking young player, he did top a shot (badly) in the rough that ended up with a double bogey.

Played DGC dozens of times being the leach I am. The course I played is not the one that they play. First of all, the hole that they start on is the 8th hole on the North course. They do that because the 7th green is closer to the 10th tee than the 9th green. When they get to the third hole they don't play the first hole on the North (They probably could reach it with fairway woods) instead they play the first hole on the South course that runs parallel to the first on the North. From the Green on the first south they can then play a longer 4th hole (the par 5 second on the North) They have healthy beautiful greens there and they can get some nasty rough for the pros. The fact is, it doesn't have the length needed to challenge todays pros. Still, it's one of Donald Ross' best layouts.

Enjoyed the Detroit stop on the PGA, Bhatia really blew it with the 3 putt on 18, something like Rory's putts on the closing holes of the US Open. But the venue was beautiful and they handled the bad weather as well as you could, it was telling that most drives got no run out, just plugged in the fairway.

Next up is the John Deere and that used to be the last chance for guys to qualify for the British Open and they always had a charter ready to fly the guys to the UK after the tourney to encourage more players to come for the tournament.

But it's positioned earlier now, the Open is 2 weeks out and I'm guessing most of the top Americans are going to take this week off and go to Scotland to play the Scottish Open next week and get acclimated to the time change and the course types.

Welcome to the big time Davis Thompson! He smoked TPC Deere Run, - 28!

Another young amateur, Luke Clanton, wonder if he's related to the Clanton's from the old west! He was tied for 2nd with another up and coming young guy at - 24

Granted it's a venue that gives up low scores unlike Pinehurst. Still some great golf from those kids.

Color me shocked when Keegan Bradley was announced as the Ryder Cup Captain. But he's being well received by the players.

Does it really matter? Golf is not a team game. Each guy has to go out and make the shots. He can ease the tension some but really it is an individual game.

No kidding like when they paired Scheffler and Koepka the last time and they went out and just stunk. That was 2 great players who played like crap, hard to blame that on Zach Johnson.

And let's not forget that dream pairing of Tiger and Phil that was awful at Oakland Hills in 2004.

One of the most fun tournaments to watch is this weekend. American Century Championship in Tahoe.

All amateur celebrities, some Hollywood types, mostly retired athletes, some active athletes whose sport is in the off season and a few women celebrities.

Steph Curry won't be there as he's getting ready for Paris, but Barkley will be not sure that is a fair trade .

Most of the guys getting ready for The Open will be in Scotland for the Scottish Open.

Ladies will be in France for a Major, the Evian. All eyes will be on Nellie Korda to see if she can get back on track after missing her last three cuts.

The ball was intimidated by the presence of Tim's partner, Jerome Bettis, and was seeking a safe hiding place. :D
