Anybody's game now, the golf course is winning today. So far Bryson missing the fairway and having to manufacture shots to save par.
Bryson's driver continues to be hanging out right making him be a magician. Rory is making long putts and has caught Bryson at 7 under. Bryson has got to start hitting fairways
Might not be the biggest collapse in a major, Greg Norman probably has that locked up. But he was cruising to a win, bogey 3 out of the last four, that's just unexplainable. Bryson didn't have his best stuff, but he gritted this one out. The up and down on 18 was epic.
Broke his driver head apparently caved in the face on the driving range. As finely tuned he is to his equipment that might explain his driving woes.
Very enjoyable tournament yesterday. So many undercurrents. LIV vs the PGA Tour. American vs European. Usually when a major is over, the other pros line up to congradulate the winner. Didn't see that yesterday. Obviously the resentment of the revolt continues. I don't see how the two tours could get together in the near future. Meanwhile, what has happend to John Rahm?
I watched Live from the US OPEN and Bryson was all over the place living it up, didn't have time to shake hands with pro's.
Might not have a choice; https://www.usga.org/content/usga/h...esting-conditions-to-take-effect-in-2028.html
I think it was Lee Trevino who said that the most common cause of a 4 putt was a long uphill putt on a steep green. Makes sense if you think about it.
I saw an interview with the USGA President on the topic of the ball. He said the changes will have little to no effect on the recreational golfer.
Big Money on the line this weekend for both the LPGA and the PGA. The Travelers is a designated event and as such a requirement for the tour players. I think they can opt out of only one of them without a significant financial penalty. Rory is out, but Scheffler is playing. The women are at Sahalee Country Club (Seattle area) for the Women's PGA Championship. It's a 12M dollar purse, I think it's the biggest purse on their tour. All the players who are able will be there. A lot of eyes on Nellie Korda who after winning 6 out of 7 tournaments has now missed the cut in her last 2 From what I have seen the course is beautiful and deadly with narrow fairways.
I know it's a tradition , much like wearing long pants but the whole scorecard thing is antiquated. But they have now modified the rule to make it less likely a player will be DQ'd. I think the players should keep their scores, but when they turn them in the scorer should review it and verify it with the player and then the player can sign it. Why they think it's still necessary for the player to review it and sign it and then the scorer who has the official scorecard either accepts or DQ's the player is just not necessary PINEHURST, N.C. -- The temptation would be to refer to a change in the scorecard procedure as the "Jordan Rule," only because Jordan Spieth was the most recent example. Players now have an additional 15 minutes to correct their scorecard before it is deemed to have been returned. Players were informed at the U.S. Open of the change. The USGA adopted the amended definition of when a card is "returned" at the U.S. Women's Open two weeks earlier. It now goes into effect on most major tours this week. Golfers now have more time to fix scorecards
Tiger gets a lifetime special exemption into the designated events based on his lifetime of achievement. Good for him, but I truly think Tiger is unlikely to do very well maybe even never make another cut. Now Charlie is just getting going and is a good Jr player. How good we'll see. CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- Charlie Woods, the 15-year-old son of Tiger Woods, earned his way into his first USGA championship on Wednesday when he had the leading score among qualifiers for the U.S. Junior Amateur next month at Oakland Hills. Charlie Woods recovered from a bogey-double, bogey start at Eagle Trace Golf Club to finish with a 1-under 71 to be medalist from his qualifier, one of four players to qualify from the site.
Watched Nelliy Korda implode and miss her 3rd cut in a row. She had a great 1st round but just was totally out of sync from the start of her 2nd round carded her worst score ever as a professional an ugly 81. On the other hand Scottie Scheffler is doing very well in the Travellers in 2nd only a couple of strokes behind the leader Tom Kim.
Cam Young just put up a 59,and could have been a 58 but he missed a short birdie putt on #16. Scores are going to be low today.
How many of you guys carry a 4 wood? Well I just saw Xander hit one. I've gotten to where I carry a 3 and a 7 wood.
