Agree 100% on that...Speith, JT's partner in the afternoon session, was in his pocket virtually the entirety of the back nine. As bad as it was, JT kept it from being even worse than it could have been. Not the Day 1 Zach was looking for
Koepka and Scheffler out 9 and 7. They don't even need to shower. What a humiliating ass kicking ! I just read a story that there is fracture on the team and it is speculated that Patrick Cantlay i. s the leader of the insurgency. He has refused to wear the USA hat and also blew off the big dinner in Rome the other night. He thinks they should be paid for their work on the Ryder Cup team.
That's just so disappointing, both the beat down of Scheffler/Koepka but more so the item about Cantlay.
Well Cantlay personally got the point in the match vs Rory and Fitzpatrick. Birdied final 3 holes including an incredible must make long putt on 18. He of course didn't have his cap on. Cantlay said the reason he doesn't wear the hat is that it doesn't fit, that's all.
Zach Johnson looks lost. He needs to be a regular on the Golf Channel next year. Groooaaannnn....Rickie....Richie Rickie....
At least put up a little fight in the singles today but the horse was already out of the barn. When we won at Whistling Straits everybody said our team was young, very talented and we were set up for a nice run. What happened?
Once again the home team dominates. I have a proposal. Let's play at 3 selection sites. They play in an American site, then a Euro site and then on a neutral site like Japan, Aust. S. Africa. We'll find out which team is better without the home crowd. As for this year's competition, it was difficult to watch. The time lag made it difficult to catch up and the US play made it difficult to watch. I can't believe that these multi millionaires can't play this competition once every two years without getting paid. They get a week of being treated like royalty, their spouses are feted, they get sponsorships because of their participation and like the Walker Cup they represent their country. If you don't like it, don't play and just shup up.
Maybe if the US golfers played a little golf in the five weeks leading up to the Cup they would have been more competitive.
I agree. I saw where Speith was critical of the scheduling because he didn't play for 5 weeks. Isn't that his choice. I love playing golf and I love.watching the majors but top level professional golfers must be the most spoiled athletes in all of sports. They complain about schedules and heaven forbid if they get a bad lie in the fairway or if the rough is too high or the greens are too fast. I play public courses, and I don't get to play as much as I want to. I really don't want.to hear it.
I can't believe that they gave not playing 5 weeks as an excuse. I remember once Lee Trevino was asked what he did if he wasn't playing in a tournament. His answer was "play golf." Somebody tell these guys that golf is like getting off, you can do it by yourself.
Heading to Sawgrass on Wed for my final golf trip of the year. Goal #1 is to hit the damn ball on the Island green!!
