Well Steve Stricker won his 7th Champions Tour Major of his career today in Akron. It's his 3rd this year, losing only to Langer last week in the Senior Open. The Champions Tour has 5 Majors. Not sure why the schedule has them so close together. Rory got the win at the Scottish Open. Birdied the last 2 holes to seal the deal. Good for him, however probably means he won't win The Open. Scottie Scheffler had another top 5 finish. He's overdue for a win, he's been playing so well but just hasn't been able to get the win.
I watched the Scottish Open today. I'm a casual follower of golf, but I was surprised to learn that this is the first time in his career that Rory has won in Scotland.
Steph Curry won the American Century Celebrity Tournament, becoming the first black winner and the first active athlete to win since Al Del Greco won in 2000. But I question Al's 'athlete creds"...he was a kicker who looked out of shape to me when he was here in Houston with the Oilers. Mardy Fish was leading going to the 18th, but a fan timed a shout out perfectly as he started his down swing off the tee and he lost his drive and had to chip out while Curry had no such problem with fans. It was a dirty move vy the fan and I don't think they even caught him and even if they did they could only toss him from the property. There is no allowance for stuff like that, it's just a lousy break. Curry was on the green in 2 and sunk his eagle putt and made up the difference for the win.
Steve Stricker accomplished something Sunday that only two other golfers in the history of the PGA Tour Champions have done: win three majors in a season. The other two to have achieved that feat? Jack Nicklaus and Bernhard Langer, two legends in the game and members of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
The last person I saw run down the fairway like Steph was Tony Finau at the Masters par 3 contest a couple of years ago...Tony twisted his ankle and had to withdraw from the Masters.
On my way to Kohler Wisconsin. It's my sister's 80th and this is where she wants to go for a Golfing Birthday. We aren't playing Whistling Straits, but maybe more appropriately The Irish course! Weather is a bit nicer, instead of high 90's tipping into the low triple digits it will be low 60's to low 80's. Wooo hoo
Have a great trip Doc. If you stop by the American Club for a meal, bring your big wallet. Nice place but just a bit pricy.
One of the reasons we are not playing Whistling Straits is you have to stay at the Resort Hotel (American Club) and the rooms were upwards of 900/night. So we rented an VRBO just off the property. So we'll play Irish and Meadows Park. We're doing the B-Day dinner at Black Wolf Run's restaurant. Have you played Whistling Straits gipper? Any good suggestions of things to do when not golfing?

I have not played WS. Commish did and he thought it was a bear. Then we watched the pros take it apart at the PGA. There's a course on the other side of Lake Michigan called Acadia Bluffs that is similar but not as demanding. I'm sure Bobda is familiar with it. I do miss those golf trips to the northern part of the Lower Peninsular. The weather is similar to what your experiencing and the courses are just wonderful.
Beautiful day here in Kohler (Sheboygan). Was in the low 60's when we teed off and was in the low 80's when we finished. The course was beautiful, a tough one for me. I hit a lot of fairways but I've been struggling with my irons and didn't hit many greens and on this course with a million sand traps of all sizes if you miss the green you're in deep trouble. I pretty much considered a bogey the new par!! I did hit one par 3 really close and made the putt for a birdie. But it was a rouigh mid 90's score for me. The condo's we're staying at in Sheboygan are right on Lake Michigan, we walked down to the beach and stuck our toes in the water...brrrrrrrrrrrrr. Will not be swimming in Lake Michigan!
I have played Arcadia Bluffs twice (you forgot the "r" )...quite a challenge but VERY beautiful. It's plenty demanding, believe me. Home | Arcadia Bluffs
Harman's damn near lapping the field after 36. Hope somebody gets hot and takes a run at him today, always love to see a good battle on Sunday down the stretch in the Open. Plenty of quality names behind him in sight but only Fleetwood is within 5 shots
Harman is going to be tough to beat unless has has a big relapse tomorrow. This has been a most unusual British Open, maybe one for the books?
