When you lived in Detroit didn't you have to drive South to get to Canada?

Yep there was a portion of Canada, Windsor that tucked in south of Detroit. (But we never referred to them as our neighbors to the south.)

USGA having a little fun in their pairings? Koepka is paired with Rory first 2 rounds. Poor Matsuyama gets to act as the ref.

Well Rickie Fowler and Xander Schaufflele are in the lead both carding 62's. They are 5 shots clear at the moment. There have been 2 hole in ones on #15. Rory is off to a good start this afternoon and is -3 through 6.

I don't really care for the Peacock coverage, they have the featured groups so I have watched it on USA Network

Rory made the turn at -5, the 4th 30 of the day all on the front 9. Koepka got off to a horrible start and was +3 after 6 but finished birdie/birdie to get it to +1.

DJ had a great round as well, 64 and 2 behind. Rory would have tied him, but he tugged his 2nd shot into the deep rough to the left of the pin and he literally went under the ball on his 3rd shot, completely missed it then caught it a little too much and had about a 10' for bogey and made it for a round of 65 and 3 shots back. He had a bogey free round till 18.

Exciting 1st round. No doubt the USGA is pissed at the good scoring and will do something to the setup to make it more USOpen like in terms of scoring.

Another good day for Rickie Fowler, he's in at -10 and the sole leader. He's had 18 birdies in 2 rounds the record for 4 rounds is 22 birdies. Wyndam Clark is one back at -9. Watch out for DJ though not many people survive a quad and are still in the mix for the weekend in a major. Rory is right there with them, had a 30 on the back 9.

Scottie is another guy to watch out for he finished strong and isn't too far back at -5.

One guy whose game has gone south for now is JT, he finished +14...ouch.

Oh yeah and Rickie Fowler is a sharp dressed man.

I am also pulling for Rickie...he reminds me of Corey Pavin, a little guy with a Bears heart. Trivia: Pavin's nickname was GLB. What did that stand for?

BTW, a US Open track shouldn't give up -10 after 2 rounds.

Without looking it up, I'm guessing that B stands for Bear and L stands for Little. Don't know about G: Great? Giant? AJ, it wouldn't surprise me that you dropped hints in your post, hence my guesses. :)

Gritty Little Bruin? I think Corey used to refer to UCLA as GLB?

What a day at the US Open. Rickie hung in there and is tied for the 54 hole lead, could easily have been the sole leader but missed a 4 footer on 18. Clark played really well except for a couple of holes, but he hit a great drive on 18 and went right at the hole and stuck it stiff for a short birdie putt and with Fowlers 3 putt he's tied for the lead. Rory played well enough today to be leading but he missed a couple of putts that he probably should have made, and Scottie finished strong and is at -7, he hit a beautiful shot into 17 for an eagle and then drained a long put on 18 for a birdie.

Fowler might lament that last miss but it was balanced out by the 69 foot biridie putt he made earlier.

Those last 2 groupings are likely to be awesome. Rickie/Clark and Rory/Scottie....golf drama!

I was hoping for a Rickie-Rory final pairing but Clark's birdie ended that. That lip-out by Rickie really give a boost to Scheffler. He went from 7 behind to 3 behind in the last few holes. Could be a great final round.

Big fan of Ricky and I'd love to see him get his first major. Same with Xander...tough first couple holes for him yesterday, lesser characters woulda packed it up but he's a gritty dude and hung tough. Rory in the hunt as well....should be a great final round. Father's Day wish 3 way play off Ricky, Xander and Rory with Ricky taking the cup. Too bad they did away with the old 18 hole playoff format. Woulda loved to watch that tomorrow!
