Oh boo hoo Jordan....2 weeks in Hawaii and I have to adjust my golf game to play a different course, and only have 3 days to prepare for it. Friggin candy ass. Your in Hawaii pal. Jezzus crimanies.
What has happened to Spieth? This guy came out of the gate like gangbusters, fell off and never made it back all the way.
George it's almost all in his putting. At one time every golfer I knew wanted to be able to putt like him. Now he putts like me. (OK not that bad but not so good.)
Pretty gusty today at Pebble. I saw some clips of Phil at the Saudi tournament, hardly recognized him. He's reportedly down to his college weight.
Looks like windy and rainy for the weekend at Pebble, which will confirm all those who decided to take the week off rather than take a chance on Pebble weather. Phoenix looking pretty good to them iI'd guess not just because of the weather but also Phoenix is a designated tournament and the purse is 20M vs 9M for Pebble.
Are you seeing what I'm seeing? Dang Chinese spy blimp over the W/M Phoenix Open? Where are the F-22's? No doubt stealing our players swing mechanics.
Great finish to the Phoenix Open. When Scottie hit through the green all the way to stands on #16I thought bogey was in the works as surely Nick was going to be sure to just hit it safely on the green and get at worst a par. I was thinking another Phoenix playoff. But no he hits it through as well, just not as bad as Scheffler. Scottie gets up on the green but leaves himself a long putt for par while Taylor gets a lot closer and seemingly has a sure par. So what happens, Scottie drains his putt and Nick misses. 2 stroke lead then birdies #17. 3 stroke lead.. game over. Back to back wins in Phoenix and reclaims World #1.
Riviera this week! Poa annua will be the topic all weekend, that and #10. The analytics say you should go for the green these days, most guys can get there with a 3 Wood. Tiger is in the field and he played 18 today in the Pro-Am. Lots of the top players will be in the field. Should be a great tourney.
I didn't know that, it certainly does put it in doubt. This doesn't sound great for him. Wednesday, Woods' gait looked more normal than it has in the past, with no noticeable limp, though he did appear to take his time and care walking up and down steep slopes. By the back nine, he did look to be walking more gingerly, avoiding putting too much weight on his ankle. After picking up his ball on the 16th hole, Woods did not play the rest of the way and took his time walking back up the clubhouse. He did not take a cart.
19 of the World Top 20 players are in the field this weekend. Just watched Tiger hit his tee ball on #1, missed the fairway to the right. Scores are good so far, with Rahm already in at -6. Amazingly neither Tiger or Jack have won this tourney.
Besides Poa Annua as a topic this week..the other will be kikuyu grass. So, why is this a grass worth talking about? Because it’s different than the Bermuda, bentgrass, zoysia and Kentucky bluegrass that you’ll see at most PGA Tour venues. Kikuyu is a spongy turf, and it has an uncanny ability to stop balls dead in their tracks. On other grasses, a fairway-wood approach that lands just short of the green could well bound through the putting surface, into a bunker or rough. With Kikuyu, it could well bounce one yard forward before stopping completely. Bump-and-runs around the greens are virtually impossible; chips have to land on the putting surfaces, which feature a different (and yet equally polarizing) grass in Poa annua. We’ll save the Poa conversation for another time. RELATED: The evolution of Riviera—how this timeless classic has changed through the years As far as the rough goes, Kikuyu giveth, and Kikuyu taketh away. It’s a dense grass, so often times a ball will often sit up on top of the rough, almost on a tee, which leads to some serious flyer lies. But it can also nestle down to the bottom, forcing guys to grip the club extra tight to prevent the grabby Kikuyu from closing the clubface. The best you can do from one of these lies is to hack it out and hope it chases on the green—even though, as previously discussed, that’s probably not going to happen.
Watched a lot of the featured group of Rory,Tiger and JT. They were fun to watch and Tiger gave it all, made some great shots, kept up with them off the tee and finished with 3 birdies.
Looks like Tiger might not make the cut, is +1 and cut is projected at E. Bet TV is sad about that. Tiger still gets the eyeballs.
