DJ was supposed to be there but withdrew. Last week they played in AZ and next week is in Fla. for a WCG event. Going up to sometimes chilly Pebble and playing on poana and then down to Fla. to play on bermuda is probably not fun for these guys.
Can Jordan find a way to finish? Last Sunday he came out and didn't play well and fell behind. Today the way he plays the first 6 or 7 holes will tell the story.
I dont know. The last few years hes been shaky the final round, however he seems to be striking the ball like he was 4 years ago. Berger or Cantalay are playing well. Hoffman on a 2 birdie start at -9 now
That 7 was hard to watch. I was rooting for him. But Berger finished in style, great drive, great 2nd shot and drained the long putt to seal the win.
Do you know Lashley's story? Very tragic event while he was in college. His parents and girlfriend were killed in a small plane piloted by his dad coming back from one of his golf tournaments.
What happened to Spieth? He has fallen off the charts. Too much too soon? I have family in Fort Worth who told me years ago that he was the next Tiger.
I think what happened to Spieth is that he decided that he wasn't driving the ball far enough to compete with the Koepkas and DeChambeaus. As so often happens when a top golfer tries to make changes to his swing it ends up in disaster. He's now long, strong and WRONG!
It.will be interesting to watch and see how length vs.accuracy plays out. Of course, length and accuracy will always dominate.
If he was just missing one way then he could work with that, but he misses right and left...the dreaded 2 way miss. Tough to work with that.
KP DeChambeau had an interesting comment on that point. He said that on courses with wide fairways everyone hits them and the longer guys have an advantage. On the courses with narrow fairways many miss the mark. The longer hitters are at an advantage hitting to the green with wedges or lofted irons while the shorter hitters are trying to get home with longer irons. He's probably right.
I don't know, they are definitely all closed and I guess it's the greens that are the problem with this type of weather, just don't know what shape they are all in right now.
Amen, KP. I play with my brother in law in Florida a lot and he about a 4H. He is consistently longer off the tee with accuracy and ditto with the long irons. So on the approach he is hitting the lofted clubs and target shooting and I'm trying to find the short grass with 7or 8I. Its just not fair.
