JT drives the green on 17, 2 putt birdie at least, Will has to pitch over the bunker! Will makes a good play, I would have dumped it in the bunker!
Crazy back 9 today at the Colonial. Harold Varner 4 putts from about 12 feet, 3 of the putts were from inside 5 feet. Then the next hole he hits his tee ball short in the water on the par 3 13th hole. Scottie meanwhile choked his own short putt for par on 12. Sam Burns is looking good in the clubhouse at - 9. Windy today and the greens are firming up.
Sam Burns after cooling his heels for 2 hours, makes a great putt from off the green to win the playoff. He didn't really spend a lot of time lining up the putt. He was probably hoping to just get it close for a tap in par and see what Scottie could do with his long putt. But it tracked beautifully into the hole. He was 7 back of Scheffler to start the final round. Next up is one of my favorite tourneys, Jack's Memorial. What the expected weather like up there, Don, Stu?
There is a price to pay, I wonder if the PGA tour will suspend these guys and if so for how long? In a statement to ESPN, an RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) spokesperson wrote: "As a result of the decisions made by professional golfers Dustin Johnson and Graeme McDowell to play the LIV Golf Invitational Series opener, RBC is terminating its sponsorship agreement with both players. We wish them well in their future endeavours."
Texas wins the Men's Golf National Championship. Kid who got the winning point (Travis Vick) is a good friend of my Nephew Matt. Who BTW just barely missed qualifying for the US OPEN but did qualify for the Texas State AM.
Not surprised about McDowell since he's no longer competitive with the Big Boys. DJ on the other hand still has plenty of game. I read where he got 125 mil. to bolt. I wonder if that will impact the Ryder Cup selections.
Looking like it's Billy Horschel's tournament! One thing I love about this tournament is that at some point in the back 9 Jack gets on the broadcast and he is great.
Big shock, Phil is returning to golf at the LIV event in London this weekend. Bet he will pocket enough money to pay his gambling debts for just showing up.
