It's much easier to find a pine tree in glacial climates than a golf course doc!

I wonder if the pines in the Southern US produce a type of needle that lends itself to mulching like you see on some golf courses (Masters). Not all of course. None of the courses that I currently play have any pine straw as a mulch like you see at the Masters. When I used to go to Hilton Head I encountered pine straw mulch in area's around the courses.

I do know that a lot of people who grow azaleas mulch around them with pine needles. I think it has to do with their impact on the underlying soil pH that is beneficial to Azaleas.

I'm posting this in the Golf thread because his focus is on Scott Scheffler, but it's a poignant commentary for anyone who wants to listen:

In the lead up to their RBC coverage, they claimed that the 18th at Harbor Town was maybe the widest fairway on tour and that it was difficult for the Pro's to miss.

Having played Harbor Town 3 times I can attest to the fact that it is not that hard to miss the fairway!:rolleyes::oops::eek::eek:

I got a bunch of gift cards for the PGATour Superstore so I ordered some Ping 710 IRONS with the light weight graphite shafts 6 - Gap Wedge. But even though I got fitted 3-7 I won't get them till mid May. They are that far backed up.

At one time you had to go to them (PXG) and be fitted or to Club Champion and be fitted. One of the better players in our group plays them, he is a low single digit index.

    Did you get fitted?

Jordan Speith just missed an 18 inch putt for par on 18, if he loses by 1 or misses a playoff by 1....

Jordan escapes. When he and Cantlay hit their drives and Jordan was shorter than Cantlay and Patrick was going to have the same club in his hand that he just had on 18 in regulation I thought Jordan was dead, and then he hits it into the bunker but because he's hitting a 6 iron the trajectory was lower he ends up with the better lie than Cantlay who hit 9 iron and ended up with a fried egg.

Jordan of course hits it stiff and Cantlay hit's to 35 feet. Game over. Always glad to see Jordan win.
