There's nothing like that first trip to Augusta. I recall we started at the first tee and just walked along the edges of every hole. I recall getting to no. 6 and from there you get your first look at 15 green and the 16th hole. It was like seeing an old friend for the first time. Enjoy your visit to golf heaven.
Kyle, a number of years ago, a very good friend in Fort Wayne whose son was one of the better HS golfers in Indiana spent the son's spring break playing the RTJ trail in Alabama. I don't recall how many courses they played, probably 4 or 5, or where they were, but my friend raved about them. His son went on to Michigan State on a full golf scholarship.
I really am looking forward to seeing the course. I hope to see some of the players but the course is the star.
I have.played a.couple of the courses at the Prattville ( Montgomery) RTJ Complex. They are.very nice, first class operations.
Re Augusta. Been there twice. Hit the lottery once. Went with Fl Bucks and Middle Child and a friend who was 10 years older than me. The three of them walked my ass off and I was exhausted.
SHIPMATE!....you said tickets....as in plural....you'll need a Marine escort...I'll arrange my own transportation....meet at the waffle house outside the gates on monday morn around 0600 for chow?.....
AJ, actually these tickets.were originally for last year's Masters. When they had no spectators last year, the automatically rolled these tickets over to this year and I had already invited my son-in-law. I will still get in the lottery this year but only for the actual tournament, not the practice rounds. You'll make the short list next time.
Cheer up AJ. I've found just the gift for your next birthday or next Christmas. Just tell the family you'd like a little something to help your golf game. For sale: The irons Woods used in the Tiger Slam
Well Scottie Scheffler won the WGC match play beating Dustin Johnson and Kevin Kisner. He never trailed either player in their matches. He is now #1 in the World Golf rankings and this is his 3rd win in his last five starts.
This will be one of the weekends at Augusta. Sat. is the very depressing finals of the Drive, Pitch, and Putt competition. 12 yr. old girls will be hitting drives 270 yds. Sun. is the Finals of the Women's Amateur at Augusta. I'll probably watch more golf from Augusta than from San Antonio this weekend.
AJ were you ever stationed at 29 Palms? The women are playing ai Rancho Mirage and I was looking at all the great courses in the Desert. 29 Palms is right to the east of them!
Yes I have. In July, the starving coyotes were always taunted by the roadrunners on the course. Took me back to the original cartoon. Sunscreen and water were the orders of the day.
So I am 75,will be 76 in late May. Beautiful day here in Houston, my game is cooking with gas. Shoot 1 over on the front 9. Chips are getting to gimmie range, long putts are dropping. I arrive at the 18th hole only needing boggie to shoot my age. Yank the drive out of bounds, card a double boogie! 76, I am still very happy as that is by far the low round of the year. But still a chance to shoot my age... MISSED. I now know the pain Phil felt in 2006 at Winged Foot!
Nice round, Terry!...the way my game is going I'll be lucky to hit my driver 75 yards by the time I'm 75. BTW...I hate nerdy, smarmy guys who make grammar corrections, but I believe it's "bogey". I had a double boogie once and it took me two fingers to get it out of my nose.
