Nah, AJ. I'm good. My concern earlier was that as a group we all don't get careless with our language. That was before my grandson joined the Marines.
American Express has dropped Phil as the host of the tournament in La Quinta played in late January as part of the West Coast swing. Phil is taking time off to spend time with his family. No time line for his return.
Spent a number of times in that club for organization dinners and after playing rounds. I feel for brides who were planning on having their receptions there this spring. I've been to a couple of wedding receptions there and they're always first rate.
Callaway dumped Phil. I wonder if he's going to start a GoFundMe page to help with his time off with the family in Vegas?
Lots of international winners these days. Last week it was Nieman from Chile, Hideki won the Sony last month. A tremendous international group plays on the Tour Sepp Straka becomes the 1st Austrian to win on the PGA Tour with the win today in Palm Beach Gardens.
Follow up on the Oakland Hills fire. The club president indicated it would take at least 2 years to rebuild the structure. Some of the important memorabilia was saved including replicas of the trophies representing the majors played there. 6 US Opens, 3 PGAs and also a Ryder Cup.
Bay Hill was pretty rough on the guys this weekend. Hovland shot 75,74 and still finished only 1 shot behind Scheffler shot 68,72 to pullout the win at - 5. Not a lot of tracks on the tour keep the scores that close to par. We are used to seeing double digits under par. Next up is the 1st major, the Players @TPC Sawgrass. I guess it is not technically a major but it should be one.
I agree that the Players is unofficially a major. It certainly has a very strong field and like the Masters it's played at the same venue every year. I'm glad it's back in March and with the PGA moved to May it gives a top tournament through July and then the playoffs start.
Rory not especially thrilled with the course, said it didn't reward good shots. This is as hard as I’ve seen in a long time,” he said. “Conditions were brutal. The golf course is hard enough, and then you throw out the firm greens and the wind and not much grass, ball is oscillating a little bit, it’s as tough maybe since Winged Foot, I would say. It was tough.” ‘It’s like crazy golf:’ Rory McIlroy lashes out at setup at Bay Hill
Bryson Dechambeau is out for the Players, continuing issues with his wrist. No Phil either as he continues to sit out for whatever reason. Purse is up to 20M now at The Players.
Based on the tour percentage listing the 4th place finisher gets just under 1 mil. When Jack won in 1974 he took home a whopping $50,000.
